5 days Gorilla and Chimpanzee trekking safari Uganda package will offer two very exciting wildlife adventures which include Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park, and then Gorilla trekking in the aptly named Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You also get to encounter an array of flora and fauna during your trekking in the two forests.

    Day 1

    Travel to Kibale Forest National Park

    Kibale Forest National Park

    Pick up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe is at 8:00 am. You will be picked up by our driver guide after your breakfast. Drive westwards through the districts of Mityana, Mubende, and Kyenjojo and arrive in Fort Portal town for your lunch. Thereafter proceed and get your accommodation near Kibale Forest. Relax, have dinner, and rest for the night.

    Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park

    Kibale Forest National Park

    Have an early breakfast at 6.30 am and then transfer to the park head offices to meet with the rangers for a briefing regarding chimpanzee trekking. At 8 am, start the trek into the forest to find a group of habituated Chimpanzees. Ensure you carry along enough drinking. After finding the chimpanzees, you are allowed a maximum of an hour to observe them and take pictures. Thereafter return to meet your driver at the park offices, and transfer to your lodge. Given enough time, you could do an evening nature walk in the nearby Bigodi Swamp to spot more wildlife including monkeys, birds, butterflies, snakes, and more.

    Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

    Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

    Have an early breakfast and check out at around 8:00 am and travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - home of the Mountain Gorillas. Travel southwards through Kasese whilst enjoying stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains - the fabled "Mountains of the Moon". You will travel through Bushenyi driving through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park called Ishasha. The Ishasha area is popular for the tree-climbing lions along with big game such as topis, buffaloes, and elephants, all of which you have a chance of a sighting. Continue to Rukungiri and finally to Kibale. Check in to your accommodation at the Silverback Lodge, situated just outside the thick forest of Bwindi. Lunch is en route.

    Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

    Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

    After an early cup of tea/coffee, pick a packed lunch, and transfer to the park offices. Meet with the rangers, and assign a gorilla group/family you shall track. After a briefing, transfer to the start of the trek and head into the jungles. It is a strenuous trek but very ambient, with lots of wildlife sightings and wonderful scenery. When you locate the group, you are allowed no more than an hour to observe and snap at these great apes. Return to meet your driver at the starting point and transfer to the park offices once more to receive your Gorilla trekking certificate and thereafter transfer to your accommodation to relax, dine, and overnight.

    Travel Back to Kampala

    After an early breakfast, check out and embark on the return journey to Kampala. You drive through Mbarara where you shall make a stopover at Agip Motel for lunch. Thereafter proceed through Kiruhuru, driving along the Lake Mburo National Park. You might see zebras and impalas grazing along the roadside. You will make another stopover at Uganda Equator point in Mpigi for some picture moments, and a chance to purchase some crafts at the craft shop. Thereafter proceed to Kampala and arrive late afternoon at about 6.00 pm. Drop off at your hotel.
