What to expect

1. Varanasi Ghats & Morning Walk Along the Ganges

Begin your experience with pickup from your hotel in Varanasi, or meet your guide near the Ganges and walk toward Dashashwamedh Ghat, one of the most important and vibrant ghats in Varanasi.

Dashashwamedh Ghat is a major pilgrimage site where visitors and devotees from around the world come to experience the sacred River Ganges. Your guide will introduce you to the history, religious traditions and daily rituals that take place along the river.

Continue along the riverside, passing Shitala Ghat, known for its temple dedicated to Goddess Shitala, followed by Ahilyabai Ghat and Munshi Ghat. Your guide will share the history and stories associated with these historic waterfront landmarks.

Duration: Approximately 1 hour
Admission: Free

2. Sunrise Boat Ride on the Ganges

From Munshi Ghat, board a traditional boat for a memorable journey along the River Ganges.

A boat ride on the Ganges is one of the most rewarding ways to experience Varanasi. As the boat travels upstream and downstream, you will see the long sequence of historic ghats and observe pilgrims performing rituals, bathing and offering prayers along the river.

After the boat ride, take a short walk along the riverfront and discover the small shops and local activities connected with religious traditions and daily life in Varanasi.

Afterward, return to your hotel for breakfast and some time to rest. Alternatively, you may enjoy breakfast at a hygienic local restaurant at your own expense. Along the way, you can also stop at a traditional local tea stall to enjoy a cup of chai.

Duration: Approximately 2 hours
Admission: Free

3. Heritage Walking Tour of Old Varanasi

After breakfast, continue with a heritage walking tour through the historic old city of Varanasi.

Explore the narrow lanes and residential neighborhoods where centuries-old traditions continue alongside everyday modern life. Varanasi is famous for its vibrant combination of colors, sounds, fragrances, architecture, temples, markets and local food.

As you walk through the northern part of the old city, you will pass through local markets and traditional shops and see famous temples and historic sites. Depending on access and local conditions, the walk may include views or visits around important religious landmarks such as Kashi Vishwanath Temple (Golden Temple).

Your local guide will explain the customs, traditions and unique character of Banaras while introducing you to the everyday life of local residents.

Along the way, you may also have the opportunity to sample some popular local snacks and drinks at your own expense.

After the walking tour, return to your hotel for some time to relax before the evening experience.

Duration: Approximately 4 hours
Admission: Free

4. Evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat

In the evening, your guide will pick you up and take you to Dashashwamedh Ghat for the famous Ganga Aarti, an evening Hindu prayer ceremony performed beside the River Ganges.

The ceremony attracts large numbers of pilgrims and visitors every evening, so arriving early gives you a better opportunity to find a comfortable viewing position.

Experience the chanting, bells, lamps and devotional atmosphere as priests perform the evening ritual dedicated to the sacred River Ganga.

At the end of the ceremony, you may offer a traditional diya (small oil lamp decorated with flowers) to the River Ganges as a symbolic gesture of gratitude and prayer.

After the experience, you will be dropped at your hotel or at a local restaurant for dinner, at your own expense.

Duration: Approximately 3 hours
Admission: Free
