Mdina, Malta's capital city until the building of Valletta, is a fine example of an ancient European walled city. You will discover the Middle Ages as we guide you through this enchanting town, characterised by medieval and baroque architecture. During our guided walking tour we will be discovering the main street past the most imposing palaces, the main square, the Cathedral and much more. We will stop along Bastions Square to admire the view from its walls and then head for a strol in the medival streets of this fortified town.
We will start at the city Main Gate which is an impressive stone gate in baroque architecture
Your tour guide will lead you into the city where at the entrance you have a stunning Palace, this was once the private residence of Grandmaster DeVilhena, one of the grandmasters of the Order of the Knights ofSt John.
This is Mdina's main street, along which we find some of the finest Palaces in this fortified Town
Then we reach the city's main square and the Metropolitan Cathedral seat of the Maltese Archbishop. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Entrance to the church is not included
Bastion square stands at the edge of Mdina's walls and from these walls you will admire a spectacular view over nearlty 2/3 of the island
We will go past this historical house, a 13th century palazzo one of the oldest in Mdina, nowadays converted into a museum which displays a collection of fine arts.
We will then proceed to Rabat where we stop at a local coffee shop to taste the traditional pastizzi, Malta most popular street food and then walk around some of the most typical street in Rabatensuring you do not miss out on anything worth seeing. Tour will end in the center of Rabat close to the parish church and the Wignacourt Museum.
