Hi, I'm Karin, founder of daslebenspueren.at. I organise and accompany guided hikes in the vicinity of Vienna. This diverse circular hike takes us through the charming wine village of Spitz, past picturesque vineyards with breathtaking views of the Danube, and up to the historic ruins of Hinterhaus Castle. Part of the trail follows the Spitzer Weinweg, where we’ll gain fascinating insights into the region’s winemaking traditions. In autumn, wild apples, walnuts, and grapes can be found along the way, adding a seasonal treat to your adventure. If we’re lucky, we might even come across a local festival on a spring or fall weekend, offering a taste of regional culture and cuisine. This hike is particularly flexible, making it perfect for both beginners and experienced hikers. After the hike, we can try some local food and wine of the region (optional), before heading back to Vienna. Commuting time from/to Vienna is approx. 2,5 hours. The price includes 22% commission for Viator.
Take the U4 (green subway line) to its last stop Huetteldorf. Walk down to the long aisle to the exit Keisslergasse. Meet me in front of the building. From Karlsplatz/Vienna State Opera city center, it's a 15-minute ride to Hütteldorf.
The Wachau Valley is a picturesque region in Lower Austria, located along the Danube River between the cities of Melk and Krems. It is known for its stunning landscapes, rich cultural history, and world-renowned vineyards.
