Schneeberg Valley Hike

8 hours (approximately)
Offered in: German and 1 more

Hi, I'm Karin, founder of daslebenspueren.at. I organise and accompany guided hikes in the vicinity of Vienna. With a maximum of 4 people, the groups are small and private. It allows me to respond individually to the wishes and needs of the participants. The majority of the tours are easy to moderate.

Highlights of this tour are:

- Picture book landscape with remote villages and traditional farmhouses
- Beautiful, impressive mountain scenery
- Waterfall in a forest clearing
- Magic pine forest
- Curative climatic resort
- The historic spa town of Puchberg with romantic architecture

I recommend this tour to everyone who wants to get a taste of the Austrian countryside close to Vienna. Schneeberg mountain is the highest mountain of Lower Austria (2076 m/6800 ft).

What to expect

We begin our hike in the historic spa town of Puchberg. As early as the 18th and 19th centuries, numerous visitors came to this place to relax and cure their symptoms.

The trail runs in the valley basin at the foot of the Schneeberg mountain through a charming, rural landscape. Passing idyllic villages and organic farms with peaceful grazing cows in the orchard, we reach a wild rushing waterfall. The rocks are a popular climbing area. We take a short break there before tackling the steep forest trail. Afterwards, we relax during the lunch break and enjoy the views. We continue through forests, passing flower-filled meadows and quaint villages back to the starting point.

Blossoming orchards, bright yellow dandelion meadows and the snow-kissed Schneeberg make this tour especially enjoyable in spring. But also autumn and its bright colours invite discovering this beautiful region.

Difficulty: medium. Length: 16km/10mi. Duration: 4h.
