Welcome to join the Colombia itinerary 2 weeks! Today we will pick you up from the airport at Bogota and escort you to check in the hotel. Then you can enjoy your free time resting or exploring the city on your own. You could go to the 93rd Street Park, one of the most popular shopping, dining and nightlife areas in the capital city of Colombia.
After breakfast, we will start the Colombia 2 weeks tour with Laguna de Guatavita, a sacred cater lake northeast to Bogota, where the legend of El Dorado originates. It rains often there. Proper shoes and an umbellar or a raincoat are necessary for the lake trip.
Next, we will go to visit the Salt Cathedral in Zipaquirá, an architectural wonder in Colombia, which is a Roman church hewn into the tunnels of salt mine 200 meters (220 yards) beneath the ground.
Today we will drive to the Mount Monserrate at the city center and take cable car to its top, where you could overlook the entire city.
Then we will drive to the historic area of Bogota, La Candelaria. We will wander at the Plaza de Bolivar. Surrounding the plaza are national buildings like the Republic Congress, The Justice Palace and The Cathedral Primada…
We will also tour the Museo de Botero curated by the country's most famous living artist, Fernando Botero, with most of his paintings and sculptures as well as his personal collection of works by other artists.
After the visit to Museo del Oro, the museum of pre-Colombian gold artifacts, we will send you to take the flight to Pereira. Our local guide and the driver will then transfer you to the hotel for a good rest.
In the early morning, we will drive to visit the nature reserve Cocora Valley, home to Colombia's national trees, wax palms, which up to 60 meters (200 feet) tall are the world's tallest ones. Upon arrival, we will hike along the winding trails, through the tropical forests and get to observation platform for the breathtaking views of misty green mountains and lush forests.
Next, we will drive 40 minutes to visit an impressive colonial town called Filandia, featuring colorful colonial buildings and miles of lush coffee farms.
After breakfast, we will go to visit famous coffee plantation Hacienda San Alberto, located one hour's drive from your hotel. During the coffee tour, the guide will give you a full introduction about Colombia coffee, from its plantation history, different coffee tastes to its commercial significance. You could also see the whole process of how Colombia's most award-wining coffee is made.
At the end of the day trip, you will be transferred to catch the flight to Medellin. The local guide and the driver will then help you settle down at the hotel booked in advance
Your Colombia 2 weeks tour today will be kicked off by appreciating the art works by Fernando Botero and Pablo Picasso in Museo de Antioquia.
Then a visit to Museum of Modern Art awaits you.
After the artistic baptism trip, let’s head to Pueblito Paisa to enjoy the best panoramic view of Medellin.
Afterwards, your guide will lead you to take the Metrocable to visit Comuna 13, used to be the most dangerous area in the city due to its favorable position for crimes – clinging to the steep mountainside at west side of the city. But now with collaborative efforts of locals and artists, it has transformed into a popular center for graffiti and street-art performances.
Today is free for you to explore Medellin on your own. You can pay a visit to Santa Elena, a small cultural town located high in the mountainside, roughly a 40 minute drive from downtown Medellin. It is the home to a great abundance of flowers and the birthplace of the famous Feria de los Flores, or Flower Fair in English, held each year in August. In the afternoon, you can go back to the city and enjoy a laid-back stroll along the greenery avenues at El Poblado, the most popular neighborhood in Medellin for foreigners.
Today we will visit the resort town of Guatape, a 2-hour's drive from Medellin.
Upon arrival, we will first go to the El Peñol, a 200 meters (656 feet) high isolated rock hill bordering the town, and climb to its top via a staircase with over 649 steps. After overlooking the town at the top, we will get down and take a leisurely stroll at the town street lined with brightly painted houses.
After breakfast, we will escort you to board the flight to the city of Santa Marta. After arrival, the local guide and the driver will send you to check in the hotel.
In the afternoon, you will take a half day Santa Marta City Tour. You will visit the historical La Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino.
Then, head to the Tairona Gold Museum.
Today you will go to explore Tayrona National Park. Your driver will pick you up from hotel and take you to the attraction site. Then you need to begin your own journey in the park. The entrance fee for the park is not included as they accept cash only. So you will pay the entrance fee on your own after arrival at the entrance, and then attend a 20-minute meeting which shows you the introduction and the rules of the park. During the 3 hours' hike to Cabo San Juan del Guia, a picturesque cape with some of the best beaches in the park, we will pass the jungle, spot local flora and fauna, wander at the exotic beaches of Arrecifes, and take photos at the mesmerizing La Piscina beach. By 14:00 at the latest, go to the ticket office of Maritima Chez Boaz to check the boat schedules to Santa Marta Bay. Take the boat back and then hail a taxi to your hotel.
Your diverse Colombia tour today will start with a 45-minute drive to Minca, a small refreshing town nestled in the forest of Sierra Nevada de Santa Mountains just outside the Santa Marta city. You will go for a hike through the forest to the waterfalls of Pozo Azul, Lake Marinka, Ear of the World, and then La Victoria. Get refreshed at the cool mountain breeze, soak in the peace and quiet of nature, and watch colorful birdlife there.
After breakfast, we will pick you up from hotel for a 4-hour drive to the coast city of Cartagena.
After arrival, check into the hotel for a nice break. You will visit the Monastery of San Pedro Claver, a church in memory of Pedro Claver.
Afterwards, we will transfer to Cartagena's UNESCO World Heritage, San Felipe Castle perched on a hill, built by Spanish in the 16th-century to defend against its enemies both from the land and Caribbean Sea.
Today is a free day for you to explore the city at leisure.
