    Dendera Temple Complex

    You will be picked up at your hotel or Nile cruise in Aswan and accompanied by your private Egyptologist guide to begin your journey to Dendera. Dendera is located about 60 kilometers north of Luxor on the west bank of the Nile River, opposite the town of Qena. The Temple of Dendera is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved temples in southern Egypt. Dedicated to Hathor, the goddess of maternity and love, the temple is renowned for its vivid wall paintings, intricately decorated ceilings, and grand entrance. Evidence suggests that the site’s sacred significance dates back to the Old and New Kingdoms, reflecting its long-standing holiness. The current temple structure, however, was built during the Greek period and expanded during the Roman era—with the birth house (Mamisi) dating back to the Late Period.
