This 3-day private tour is flexible to your taste and your way of enjoying new places. It can be customized fully with activities or it can be at a very relaxed pace.
We pick up from the Athens airport as well as all hotels or accommodation in Athens and suburbs.
Your driver will be waiting for you at the lobby/port/airport holding a sign with your name on.
Your driver will pick you up at a flexible morning time and set off towards Pelion and our first destination, seaside Volos town. Volos is about 3,5 hour far from Athens, it has a beautiful port side where boats go to Sporades islands and is famous for the “Tsipouradika”, traditional taverns that serve local Greek mezedes, small tapas dishes with Tsipouro or Ouzo.
After your lunch, we will ascend to Makrynitsa, “The Balcony of Pelion” one of the most iconic villages of Pelion. On its main beautiful square, you can visit the Byzantine Museum, with exhibits from 13th c AD. Next stop, the Monastery of the Dormition of the Theotokos, founded in 1215 AD.
After Makrynitsa we will pass by charming Portaria, continue to Chania, a popular ski resort and visit Kissos, a lovely village, perched on the hill slopes at an altitude of 520 meters covered with plane and chestnut trees. Its must-see is the 3-door Basilica Chruch of Saint Marina from the 17th c, one of the best Basilikas in Greece and Agriolefkes the second ski resort of Pelion (if it is winter). After Kissos we reach our final destination for the day, arresting Tsagkarada village. Overnight at 4-star or Boutique Hotels like The Lost Unicorn, depending on availability.
On your second day, we explore Tsagkarada which is sprawled in a large area, reaches out over two slopes and has many charming spots. Tsagkarada is characterised by the beautiful mansions, the traditional neoclassical houses, stone-paved cobbled streets and the elaborate fountains all in a very lush green environment. A beautiful easy walking spot is the magical green environment is a short stroll to the old Stone bridge built in 18th c. From the main square of Tsagkarada where the 1000-year-old gigantic plane tree stands – the width of the trunk exceeds 15m! – start exciting hiking trails which we can organise with a local experienced guide if you are interested (extra cost, please inquire). One of the many trail starts from Tsagkarada and goes all the way to the sea in Fakistra famous beach and in Damouchari seaside village, where you can have your lunch by the sea.
After Tsagkarada we travel to Xorychti, a photographic village at 420 m elevation, and can visit Lampinou sandy beach close by for a seaside coffee or a swim. We then pass by Kalamaki, on our way to another famous Pelion village Milies. Overnight at Milies. At traditional mansions like Archontiko Filippidi
After your breakfast, we explore Milies, a striking traditional Greek mountain village, at a height of 400 m on Mount Pelion. Milies is notable for being the terminus of the narrow-gauge (60 cm) Pelion Railway, built in 1895, the station of which we will visit. The exciting view you have from this hilly place includes the sea (Pagasitikos bay), the forests of the mountain, Evia island, and the traditional villages around. Next, you will visit the old library and the local Folklore Museum. The area is ideal for horse-riding and other outdoor activities.
From Milies, we will start our return to Athens passing by the extraordinary villages of Vizitsa and Pinakates and then your driver will follow the coastline and stop at Kato Gatzea for seaside lunch. Return to Athens and drop off – at your desired location.
