The Salt Mine in Wieliczka is famous for being Europe’s oldest salt mine, which has been operating for at least 700 years. Wieliczka’s Salt Mine is a unique tourist attraction, and is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List (listed among the twelve top sites). Get lost with wonder as you make your way through the labyrinth of tunnels, pits and chambers, all hewn out by hand from solid salt. Beautifully adorned chapels, underground lakes, and other hidden treasures are spread out on the three upper levels of the complex, ranging from 64 to 135 meters below the ground. Tourists can enjoy the three kilometre-long trail and a collection of objects related to the mine itself and mining industry.

    Wieliczka Salt Mine

    Your trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mine will begin in the city centre or at your hotel in Krakow. Wieliczka is only a short distance, 10km away from Kraków. After a 30 minutes’ drive you will be there to begin your 2.5-hour wonder through the network of underground tunnels and labyrinths. You’ll have to take approximately 360 steps down to the mine. Down in the mine there is a specific micro climate. Due to the high iodine content it is helpful in the treatment of respiratory problems. The tour of the mine is guided by experienced professionals who will tell you all about the local history, legends and many interesting facts about the mine. WE OFFER TOUR TO SALT MINE WITH PRIVATE TRANSPORT, ONLY FOR YOUR GROUP. We have English speaking drivers, but guides supervising tours in Salt Mine speak various languages. Time of pick up from hotel or apartment depends which language you choose.
