Stretching over an area of 485 hectares, the Balaclava Marine Park, is one of the few protected marine parks in Mauritius - the first national marine park since 1997. These warm waters are home to about 430 different marine creatures and almost 200 types of coral Sea lovers will enjoy this trip to the marine park. Sit in your boat and depart for the reefs while feeling the cool day breeze brushing against your skin. Take in the beauty of the surrounding while gazing at the underwater world from the boat. You will then stop in the middle of the marine park and get to snorkel and discover the magical world of the reefs. At an average depth of 5.5 meters, with crystal clear water offering great visibility, the snorkeling conditions are ideal. You will have a great view of the reef, fish and a large selection of corals (there are more than 50 different species of corals at the park!). Central Market

Another place to visit is the Port Louis central market – the market is a fun place to visit and the ideal place to find many locally made products, textiles, Mauritian spices, fruits and many souvenirs for very cheap prices. In your free time you can stroll the city streets and see several sightseeing attractions. You must have worked up an appetite with the shopping! Head to the next section of the Central Market where all the street food stalls are found. You will have a wide variety of choices here for the street food and you will surely find something to your taste. We do recommend tasting the dhall puri, made with split chickpea and flour and the famous alouda, almost like a milkshake with basil seeds, grated jelly and sometimes a scoop of ice. If you wish to try some of the local snacks, you will find a large choice of samoussas (fritters filled with potatoes), bajas (fritters made with chickpea flour) or gato piment (fritters made with yellow split pea and chilli).
