Reach Pietrapertosa on foot and discover one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages, with its stone lanes, panoramic views and the historic Arabata district. After taking in the village and its scenery, return along the trail towards Castelmezzano and experience the landscape from a different perspective.

Leave Castelmezzano behind and follow the Seven Stones Trail down towards the Caperrino stream valley. Walk through a rugged natural landscape and watch the dramatic rock formations reveal new perspectives with every step.

Follow the trail’s seven themed stages and step into a world of local legends, witchcraft and age-old beliefs. Along the way, art installations and immersive soundscapes bring the stories to life, blending nature, folklore and imagination.

Pietrapertosa (Pass by)
Climb up from the valley floor as you make your way toward Pietrapertosa. Pause to take in the jagged peaks of the Lucanian Dolomites and enjoy the panoramic views that unfold along one of the most scenic stretches of the trail. Arrive in Pietrapertosa and explore one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages. Wander through its stone lanes, discover tucked-away viewpoints and explore the historic Arabata district, a reminder of the village’s ancient Arab heritage.

Castelmezzano (Pass by)
Follow the Seven Stones Trail back toward Castelmezzano. Take in the valley from a new perspective, retrace the mountain climbs and descents, and finish your hike surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Lucanian Dolomites.

- The route includes uphill and downhill sections, as well as uneven natural terrain, so participants should be comfortable walking on hiking trails
- We recommend bringing water, clothing suitable for the season and, during the warmer months, a hat and sunscreen
- Trekking poles are recommended
- In case of adverse or unsafe weather conditions, the operator may modify, reschedule or cancel the excursion
- On request, the trek can also be arranged to start and finish in Pietrapertosa, while following the same Seven Stones Trail experience
