Outrageously disappointing
Pros:

Arrived last night. Hotel is awful. Very old and dated. Smells of damp everywhere, air con isn’t great in the room, only had breakfast- very basic. Think Travel Lodge not an all inclusive spread. Staff are wazzed off. Rumour around the pool is that the hotel is going into administration.

Beyond awful
Pros:

Do not waste your money. This was our third time to Tunisia, first time in sousse and this hotel was awful!!!

Accommodation not as advertised: We were moved between three different rooms, yet every room failed to meet the standards described in the listing and what is of expected of a 5 star resort. Persistent issues included poor cleanliness, broken fixtures (towel rail, air conditioning, tvs, furniture, hairdryers), and facilities that did not match what was promoted. The main photo on the website shows cabana style beds on the beach, this wasn’t there at all. It also says private beach, but fails to mention that either side is a public beach which is used day and night with Tunisians. They constantly harass you for food and money. They also were always within the ‘private’ section of the beach which made it completely unusable. Majority of the sunbeds on the beach were also broken.

Building work - I received no notice of building work at the hotel. However the first room overlooked a noisy building site and the indoor pool was boarded up half way and work was being done. Not only was this noisy inside and out, it created a lot of dust that was left from one day to another.

Safety concerns (unresolved):
There was no internal door lock on any of the rooms we stayed in – a problem confirmed to affect other guests too – despite us raising this with reception, guest relations and the general manager multiple times. Easyjet told us this is hotel policy, but the hotel said it’s not their policy, when I asked why a friends lock worked in her room.

No smoke alarm was fitted in our room throughout our entire stay, creating a serious fire safety risk. This is a HUGE issue. Which we reported many times.

Broken decking on the premises caused my partner to suffer an injury to his toe; while the area was patched poorly the following day, proper repairs were never carried out. There’s photo evidence of the injury, it was reported to reception and they came straight out and removed the nail that was sticking up. However, they left the big hole until the following day without even covering it.

Hygiene - Everyone we spoke to was experiencing diarrhoea and stomach pains, us included. Since being home, we are fine. This must have been hygiene or cooking standards in the restaurant. I was having to help people with Imodium tablets around the resort who hadn’t brought any.

Lack of support: Despite repeated requests, no EasyJet Holidays representative was available or able to attend the hotel to assist us, leaving us to resolve matters directly with unhelpful hotel staff for the full duration of our trip. After speaking with the general manager whom we found and approached ourselves, some issues were fixed. The cleaners did clean our room, they also left a bunch of flowers and a display on the bed. They also gave us a new kettle. However the balcony was still dirty, the marks on walls were still there, the plug socket still hung off the wall, a door lock remained unfixed and smoke alarm remained non existent. Although cleanliness was important to us, the safety issues are of far greater concern.

On one of the outside balcony areas there was a used condom on the floor. This is absolutely disgraceful!

Entertainment and life guard staff were taking girls phones when they were using them on their sunbeds, opening instagram and adding themselves. Our friend fell victim to this and then had staff ringing her of an evening asking for her room number or telling her to come to the beach with them. Traveling solo this frightened her. They were very persistent and again this was reported to guest relations, evening security and reception and it continued still.

Evening entertainment was advertised on a board but it never happened: daily the posters were switched to different days. Most nights what was advertised, never transpired. No apology and when asked about it they just said it’s out of their control and walked off. One nights entertainment was children’s party games, it was beyond awful.

Bars closed at 11.25pm not 12 as advertised and then lights went out. One night we stayed up outside drinking and had water thrown on us at just gone midnight. Again this was reported and nothing was done. Yasmin from guest relations spoke to me and although she is very polite, nothing was done and she just kept saying ‘my office is here if you have any problems’ without fixing the problems I’m telling her about.

On our last day a life guard came up to my partner and asked when we go home. He then proceeded to ask my partner to leave his shoes for him when we go home. This is extremely unprofessional and pressuring.

Reception staff are unhelpful and come across very rude.

The only credit to the hotel was the Bar staff and the restaurant staff - both were attentive and polite.

Pros:

We came to Sousse palace and the service was really great. The food was good variety, the animation was outstanding , he was really funny made game nights and comedy and good performances. The room is very clean and the people will try and make you happy. Three restaurants all really good especially the sky lounge. Also if you love beaches this is the place to go with clear waters and lovely snacks bar. The people here wants to make you happy. We loved it here.

Disappointing stay, with a few positive aspects
Pros:

Unfortunately, our stay was disappointing. The room and hallways were dirty, there was an unpleasant smell in the room and around the hotel, and even the bed sheets smelled bad. The evening entertainment was more suitable for children, like a mini disco. The beach and sea were also dirty and full of rubbish.
On the positive side, the food was delicious, with plenty of choice for everyone, and the waiters were very friendly and helpful.

Overall, the cleanliness and hygiene issues seriously affected our stay.

Do not bother with the Must restaurant — it was a big disappointment, with a very limited menu mainly consisting of burgers and pizzas

Fantastic Hotel Amazing Staff Best in the Country
Pros:

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Sousse Palace Hotel & Spa. From the moment we arrived, every member of staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Everyone was incredibly friendly, professional, and always happy to help with a smile.
The hotel facilities are excellent. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the pool was clean, the spa treatments were fantastic, and there was always plenty to do. The food offered a great variety, and the overall atmosphere throughout the hotel was relaxing and enjoyable.
The Hotel Entertainment Team Are wonderful put in a lot of hard work to make your time here enjoyable
The exceptional service from the staff is what truly sets this hotel apart. Their attention to detail and genuine care for guests made our stay unforgettable.

We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Sousse Palace Hotel & Spa to anyone looking for a relaxing, high-quality holiday in Tunisia. We can’t wait to come back!

Merveilleux séjour
Pros:

Cons:

Very dissapointing
Pros:

This hotel is advertised as a 5 star but in my opinion it felt like a 3 star. There were so many problems with the room. The overall quality, cleanliness and services did not meet the standards i expect from a 5 star hotel. The rooms were dated with mismatched furniture. The bathroom was dirty, broken fixtures, mismatched tiles, prehistoric hairdryer, mouldy and the towels were discoloured. I raised concerns with staff but they were not helpful.
The hotel in my opinion seems to treat guests differently based on their race. During my stay, I notices that non Caucasian guests, including myself were assigned rooms in the older part of he building, whilst many Caucasian guests appeared to be accommodated in the newer section. This left with the impression that there was unequal treatment, which was upsetting and effected my overall stay. I hope the hotel reviews its room allocation practice to ensure all guests are treated equally.

Wonderful stay!
Pros:

First of all, there was very good food and friendly, helpful staff. There was also a wonderful private beach directly in front of the hotel, the rooms were very neat, spacious, and safe. The Animation team during the night entertainment was very good, and not boring at all. Very good hotel, and me and my family are very pleased with our stay.

Staff were friendly and helpful, location right next to the medina and great pool and beach access.

Cons:

Food was average, range of options but nothing particularly good. Rooms were decent sized but outdated and somewhat limited in the amenities.

Lovely Stay at the Sousse Palace
Pros:

Just got home following a week at the Sousse Palace and had a fantastic time. Without doubt the best thing about this hotel is its staff, the restaurant staff are friendly and attentive and the animation team were brilliant, always ready with a smile and high-5 for our youngest (6yo). The food was tasty with plenty of options, although its typically the same base dishes with a couple of 'specials' each day. The all inclusive bars provide options of typically vodka, rum or whiskey based cocktails but beers, soft drinks and tea coffee are also available (a 'large' beer is available...they will give you 2 smaller beers at once) . The hotel and grounds are very clean and we could not fault our room, other than the bathroom decor being a bit dated. There was entertainment during the day (yoga, aqua gym, ping pong) and every evening, although the programme can change at short notice (for reasons beyond control) but the entertainment team were brilliant at pulling off last minute changes. We tipped staff but only at the end of the week, although we did notice others guests tipping at each meal etc we did not notice a poorer service as a result. The pools were clean and well kept (freshwater) the indoor pool appears to have once been a hydrotherapy pool but many of the features no longer work which is a real shame. Difficult to get a pool sunbed, all gone by the time we were up for breakfast at about 8.30, but no problem getting one at the beach. This is a city centre hotel, so it is surrounded by shops, cafes etc and some external noise is to be expected. My only citicism would be the private beach is a little dirty, some beyond the hotel's control (public beaches both sides and rubbish gets blown) but the amount of cigarette butts in the sand was crazy, and it could really do with a daily morning rake/sift to clean things up. Overall had a very enjoyable stay, and would happily return - a little bit of t&c and this hotel would be fully deserving of its 5 star status.

Holiday vacation for my wife's birthday
Pros:

I arranged a holiday to celebrate my wife's birthday and choose the Sousse Palace Hotel and Spa. It was a fantastic choice of hotel with it's own private beach area and excellent facilities throughout. They made our stay extra special once they knew of my wife's birthday. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are always clean and tidy and they booked us in the a la carte restaurant for my wife's birthday making a special birthday cake. I organised some treatments in the spa for my wife and I and they were fabulous. The Spa is well worth a treat to yourself they are great and make you feel fabulous after the treatments. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are planning a trip to Tunisia. It is first class good for couples and families. Great pool area , we preferred going to the private beach area as there was always somewhere to lie out and they always arranged the sun loungers for you. We had a great time totally love the relaxing atmosphere.
