The Voco Surfside Aruba was a delightful surprise in the heart of Oranjestad Aruba. This newly renovated property was airy, clean, and island elegant. It truly is a hidden gem and reminds me of the old Aruba low rise hotels. This property is truly a boutique style hotel. The common areas are open to maximize Aruba climate and all the decor is tasteful. The small footprint makes it is super accessible and really was a great place to spend a week with the family. This hotel is minutes from the airport so it is super convenient for a quick visit to the island.
The pool was clean and had multi-levels and seating. It was small but located in the main central courtyard of the building. It had two jetted tubs, they were not hot but had great jets. We used the pool every single day of our visit because it was never crowded. The seating surrounding the pool was varied and quite lovely for lounging. There was astroturfing throughout the property which was a nice touch. There was an outdoor shower although if you were not looking for it, it was hard to find because it was located behind the pool away from the lobby.
The hotel has a bar with a nice bar menu, nice outdoor seating options and a lovely restaurant that served a daily breakfast Buffett. Our room rate included breakfast but, that typically is an extra charge not automatic. The breakfast was varied although not extensive, we loved it. I don’t need an exotic spread each day. Made to order omelets and fruit, cereal, yogurt, cheese, breads and bagels plus, varying breakfast meats and potato or yucca. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
We rented a car and had free parking and always got a prime parking spot. Plus overflow would be across the street. Now the street is a busy road but there is a crosswalk and a small beach and tons of food kiosks and a couple of restaurants directly in front of the property.
The best part of our stay was the room, a short walk from the pool and restaurant and we were in our one bedroom one floor suite. We absolutely loved it. The room was large, bright, and clean. It did not have formal closets but it had plenty of storage space for two adults and one child. There was a pull out bed from the sofa in the main living area. Two televisions and a king sized bed in the bedroom. The bathroom was compact but tastefully decorated and very clean. The shower had great water pressure and overall the room exceeded our expectations due to the size. It also had a kitchenette and a dining table with two chairs. Also, there were two refillable glass water bottles and a filling station a few doors down. Our room also had a lovely private patio off the main bedroom that had additional seating and privacy. Our room was not too noisy since we had an interior room with a pool view. Although we always kept the curtains closed for privacy reasons. The air conditioner worked well and had a remote control feature which was a nice touch.
Overall this hotel gets a solid four stars for being a hidden gem with phenomenal customer service and being super clean and quaint. I would stay again and recommend it for families.
Celebrating my 50th birthday in Aruba was truly unforgettable. Aruba, you truly embody the language, values, and ethics the world needs more of.
Life has a way of testing us, stretching us through challenges we never expect, but every so often, it gently leads us somewhere that feels like home. This was one of those rare places; where every welcome felt sincere, every gesture carried kindness, and every moment was filled with genuine care.
What made this experience truly unforgettable was my stay at VOCO by ING a place where warmth wasn’t just offered, it was felt in every moment; where care went beyond expectation, and genuine hospitality transformed a beautiful trip into a lasting memory. Along the way, I was fortunate to meet incredible souls; the VOCO team; Nilo, Yuru , and Francisca each leaving a meaningful imprint on my heart..
This hotel is close to the airport. I am top-tier for IHG so I spend a lot of time in their hotels. This is top-notch. It’s The pool is beautiful. The rooms are very clean and the shower is amazing. I can’t say enough about the staff meant most of them speak English. They’re very helpful and very accommodating. Somebody complained about the billing. I think that’s unreasonable and does not reflect this hotel.
Stayed one night at VOCO Aruba and had a very disappointing billing experience.
I booked through Hopper and paid in full at the time of booking. At check-in, the hotel took my card for incidentals, which is standard. However, they later charged that same card for the full cost of the stay, despite the reservation already being prepaid.
I was told the charge was “pending” and would fall off. It did not.
After waiting two weeks, I followed up:
• The hotel did not resolve the issue
• IHG Rewards customer service said the hotel would contact me — they never did
I even disputed the charge with my bank, but without proper cooperation from the hotel, it was denied.
To be clear:
• The original booking was paid with a Mastercard through Hopper
• The hotel charged a separate Visa for the same stay
This is a clear duplicate charge, and it’s extremely frustrating to be left chasing a resolution with no accountability.
Until this is resolved, I would strongly caution others when booking here—especially through third-party platforms.
We booked very last minute for one night because we had to change our incoming flights due to a snow storm. We honestly were just happy to have somewhere safe to sleep that night but we were so surprised with this super cute hotel! It was just renovated and is very clean and modern. I felt like I was at a small boutique hotel. Bed was very comfortable. Pool and lounge are was wonderful. I loved being able to walk right out of our room to the pool. There were some great restaurant options in the area. Staff was very kind. We would come here again.
Pool And outside view
The rooms were mediocre but for the price they were ok.
Staff was great and accommodating
Accommodating
Very family friendly place. Most of the staff are amazing especially Marc from front desk always putting a smile on our faces and not to forget the lovely cleaners and of course the super friendly ladies from the bar. Overall a very nice place.
From the moment I arrived, this hotel delivered nothing short of excellence. The room was immaculate—beautifully designed, spacious, and thoughtfully laid out. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the linens luxurious, and the view from the balcony was breathtaking. Every detail, from the lighting to the elegant decor, created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made it feel like a home away from home.
The staff were the true highlight of my stay. Every team member I encountered—from the front desk to housekeeping—was genuinely friendly, professional, and eager to assist. They went out of their way to ensure my comfort, always greeting me with a smile and anticipating needs I didn’t even realize I had.
As for the service, it was flawless. Check-in and check-out were quick and seamless. Room service was prompt and the food arrived hot, fresh, and delicious. Any request I made was met with immediate attention and delivered with a personal touch that showed a deep commitment to guest satisfaction.
The amenities were world-class. The pool area was serene and well-maintained, perfect for a relaxing afternoon. The fitness center was fully equipped and spotless. I also enjoyed the on-site spa—an indulgent treat that left me feeling completely rejuvenated. And the hotel restaurant? A culinary gem with a menu that balances innovation and comfort, using fresh, high-quality ingredients.
In summary, this hotel doesn't just meet expectations—it exceeds them in every way. - Peter Magr
Housekeeping was great, very clean and tidy. Shower and bathroom was also great. Hotel location is perfect, lots of bars and restaurants in walking distance.
Wifi didn’t work in my room at all.
Most of front desk staff was fantastic, except one day we almost missed dinner reservation because our taxi took very long time. Front desk staff said it always takes long on Fridays and she didn’t know when the car would come.
Had a greet time
It’s good but a little bit old.
Very nice place
The area around the hotel is not according with it
Having a small coffee maker with cream and sugar would have been nice instead of going out of our room in the morning.
Dining room opened too late for early risers.
Our room was clean and housekeeping was great.
