Amazing Amazonas Accommodation!
Pros:

Excellent hotel offering a very comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area of the mighty Amazon river, the rain forest, and local indigenous communities with their amazing knowledge of and respect for the rain forest. Leticia is a gritty, fascinating Amazon frontier town with Brazil just a walk away, Peru on the other bank of the river, and no passports needed. The Decameron Decalodge Ticuna has beautiful grounds, with a large swimming pool in the center. The rooms have an entrance area with hammock, ceiling fan and some seating, and could double up as an extra sleeping area. The main room is spacious, nicely decorated and has everything you need: large comfortable bed, an extra pull-out bed, air conditioning, ceiling fans, TV (but no news channels), bathroom with shower and toilet, washbasin in the main room, shelves and a clothes closet, fridge and modern safe. The insect screens work perfectly. The WiFi works pretty well, but you do have to keep logging in again. Our reservation included half board, which is a good idea given the lack of regular restaurants in Leticia ( although lots of street stands selling local food). The hotel has a lovely restaurant area, very kind and friendly staff, a choice of cooked breakfast and a rotating evening menu. The food was delicious. Most evenings there was also live music in the restaurant, which was a nice surprise. The hotel also has an excursion desk where we booked all of our excursions. Each excursion was guided by knowledgeable local guides, and we were taken very good care of. You can book group tours or private tours. The organization and logistic were great. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the river front where a lot of tours leave from. It’s also close to the park where thousands of parakeets flock and roost every day around sunset - a sight (and sound) not to be missed! We were so pleased we chose the Decameron Decalodge Ticuna!

Disappointing a good base at best!
Pros:

We stayed here for three nights March 26. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. The location was great and the gardens well maintained and pretty, the pool was a refreshing break after a full day exploring the Amazon. The room was ok quite basic, clean and the bed comfortable. However, the resort overall lacked atmosphere and the food was quite dreadful. Having looked at previous reviews we weren’t expecting this. They offer a full menu at lunchtime and a paired down version in the evening. Our stay had to be booked on a half board basis so we could only have the paired down dinner included in our booking along with breakfast. We tried a number of options and were disappointed at every meal bland and inedible at best. We opted to eat out on our last night and declined the breakfast on the last day. In summary, the hotel is the best in the area so a good base to explore the area but I suggest eating out. Reasonably priced.
