Hotel Krone 1512 had such a fantastic location right in the heart of Salzburg. The room felt cozy yet spacious, and overall it was very comfortable for our stay. The shower was a little tricky to figure out at first, but once you understand how it works, it’s manageable. My recommendation is to make sure the shower nozzle is facing the wall, close the folding shower doors completely, and then slowly turn on the water. Otherwise, you may end up with a small pool of water outside the shower that needs cleaning up afterward.
Beyond that minor issue, the hotel was lovely. The moment you step outside, you’re surrounded by plenty of shopping, restaurants, and everything you’d want within walking distance. Check-in was incredibly easy and efficient , the gentleman at the front desk handled everything in about five minutes and was very pleasant.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely return to Hotel Krone 1512 on our next visit to Salzburg.
The hotel is clean and well maintained, the staff were friendly and helpful.
FYI The (most visible) sign outside says the hotel is called the Hotel Golden Krone and this caused some confusion with our taxi who had to ask several people where it was.
Firstly, I want to say there was nothing *wrong* per se with the hotel but there were a few things we felt could be done better.
Firstly, checkin isn't until later in the afternoon but after about 2pm the reception isn't manned and there is a sign saying go to the bar next door. Whilst this wasn't a problem and we were seen straight away, it did give a slightly cautious first impression.
The breakfast is adequate, fresh and tasty, but lacked hot options that some might expect at a hotel in this price range.
We had a massive room and it was clean and tidy, but it's the little things that made it feel somewhat unfinished.
There was no safe, fridge or tea/coffee making facilities (though tea and coffee are available in the breakfast room all day) which may be important to some.
The bath was not separate from the bedroom, which wasn't necessarily a problem but felt a little strange. The bath taps had a connection for a shower head but that was missing. The shower itself was (almost too?) large and separate but worked well with the option of a removable shower head or a ceiling rose. Using the ceiling rose meant it got quite wet out side the shower 'room' as there was no door/curtain. There was no shelf in the shower for your own products though there was gel supplied.
The TV in the room was small by today's standards but the main issue was that it appeared to have many channels but most of them weren't available giving various errors seemingly related to having no satellite/cable subscription card inserted. We could only find one working channel in English (BBC News) and no streaming was supported.
However, the strangest thing was that our room had a separate sitting area with a sofa but the TV was only visible in the bedroom area. There was a writing table in one corner but otherwise it just felt very empty and almost unfinished and slightly pointless.
