Philippion Citi Hotel

We went as a couple for a vacation to several Greek islands, at the island of Kos we chose the Philippion hotel to stay for two nights and thankfully it was only two nights. I would like to mention that, before we made the reservations, we looked at different websites for various opinions about the hotel and that is why at the time of booking we asked for our accommodation to be in the renewed space of the Philippion hotel. I was answered that it would be dependent on the availability at the time of my reservation.
Firstly, we had some difficulty finding the establishment because the hotel's facade did not correspond at all to the images that had been provided to us through the website where we made the reservation. When we found the hotel, we saw that it is not as "modern" as the images provided by its management appear. When we arrived at the room we were schoked because it had nothing to do with what we were expecting. The room was dirty, it was small and the bathroom was disgraceful.
Secondly, this is a hotel that does not focus on resting its guests, as the cleaning staff at 8:50 am were knocking on the door to come and "clean" the room, yes, I put cleaning in quotes because they just made the beds. The bath towels were not even changed. We usually leave the towels that are to be changed in a corner of the room floor so that the staff can distinguish them more easily. In this case, the employees took the used and dirty towels and put them back on the bed. The price we paid for our stay was not cheap, which is why I was so outraged by this experience.
Finally, we were led to think that this hotel had a swimming pool, which is completely false. When we asked about the pool, they told us that it was a mistake on the part of travel agencies and that they are tired of saying that they don't have a pool, which doesn't really add up because we made reservations individually and even here on Tripadvisor they say that this establishment has a pool. .

Without a doubt, we do not recommend nor will we return to this hotel whose real name we do not even know, it was a horrible experience.

I've been traveling a lot for work (3 time per month) since 5 years now and I've never been to an hotel like that before. First of all they have a sticker on the entrance door saying they accept all the credit cards including Amex but they did not accept my payment I had to change card. The window in the bathroom was showing the walls between the rooms with no air or light. We had to unplug the fridge every night because you cannot sleep with it on, it is noisy af. At breakfast if you ask for a cappuccino or an espresso you have to pay for it, also if you have breakfast included, day by day different juices started disappearing, the last day there was just orange and water and no more lactose free milk.
They makeup the rooms every two days. On the first day we didn't have towels, liquid soap or warm water. We had properly towels the second day. We got warm water and liquid soap only in the last 3 days (of 8) and they didn't refund me anything after I've been asking for it. This was the most unacceptable thing.
The only good thing is the location, some people of the staff are also nice but the service is like a hostel. Just gross... This trauma cost me and my family almost 2000 euro and we couldn't enjoy our stay at all... We need a real vacation now. 😔😩
Just go somewhere else.

The room was comfortable but also a little dirty, the Air conditioning did not work properly and we didn’t have a sea view from our balcony. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good but there was not much to choose.
It was OK for 3 nights but would not recommend for longer stays.

Somewhat aged probably due to Covid finances. But good value for money.

We thought that the hotel do not give towels, so we used our own towels, and now this is our last day and we are getting shower towels. Last 3 days NO ROOM CLEANING. Location is good. The only good thing is the location and friendly staff, nothing more..

I would not recommend for anyone to book this hotel. Firstly, we chose this hotel based on 3 websites stating it had a swimming pool in the facilities, which was not the case. When discussing with reception, the lady was very rude, unhelpful, unsympathetic despite showing her a pool was listed under facilities on the website. She proceeded to hang up on booking.com when they tried to contact her to resolve the issue, and told us we would be charged by booking.com if we cancelled, which was not the case. This hotel was definitely trying to scam us for our money and mislead us on the facilities. Furthermore, the room was dirty, smelt and did not have towels or a working air con. We did not end up staying and moved to a 2 star hotel nearby which was of much better standard. An overall awful experience

We booked this hotel on the basis of three different websites stating it has a pool as one of it’s amentities. On arrival we found out this was not the case and when discussed with the lady at reception she was very rude and unsympathetic, unhelpful, laughed at us and kept answering the phone mid-conversation when we were trying to resolve the issue. She was uncooperative with the website we booked with when they tried to help resolve the issue. Despite showing her that a pool is listed as an amenity online, she implied that it wasn’t her problem. We asked for a refund to find an alternative hotel as we paid in cash on arrival and she stated that we could receive a refund but the website we booked with would charge us a cancellation fee. This was not the case, as we spoke to the booking website and they confirmed it was absolutely fine to cancel with no extra charge. Additionally, our room on arrival had no towels for the shower and the aircon was not working which is unacceptable for a hotel room. Philippion Citi Hotel really needs to ensure their information on all websites is updated to avoid disappointment for future customers as they no longer have a swimming pool and they should work on their customer service in these instances as it is their error.

The location is amazing with great access to the center of town and a stunning sea view. The hotel looks very inviting from the outside and has a nice but small swimming pool. The rooms are cozy and clean. in the room you will find wifi and satellite TV.

The breakfasts served by the hotel are varied and delicious, and I very much recommend buying the breakfasts.

The best thing about this hotel is of course the service which is warm and friendly as well as being very helpful, especially the receptionist Stephanie, who lovely person.

There is also a bar by the pool which is full of various alcohol. The bar is made even better by the bartender there. Manos is the best bartender I have had the pleasure of meeting (I travel a lot). A very talented guy who will prepare the best APEROL SPRITZ.

I promise you that you will not leave the bar as a sober person if you haven't stayed at the hotel, I recommend you come here for a drink.

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel and I will definitely come back next year. 🙂

Kos is the only holiday location for me and my husband for the last 5 years. We stayed in all areas and so far our favorite is Kos town! why? cuz you have freedom to get out of your hotel without rental transportation and still explore, if you want to go out to bar street, you can reach your hotel without stressing and thinking if you get a taxi or not.
And since we are reaching Kos 2-3 times a year, we always look for place to stay which is also good for our budget.
Philippion Citi hotel is in central location, comfortable hotel with very friendly staff.

Well.. what can I say, hotel location is top! in the center, in the harbor, close to beaches. We booked a sea view room, which was a great choice as we had chance to enjoy sunsets and sunrises from our balcony while having a glass of wine :))
Rooms are suitable for 2 people, clean. Value for money for sure!
If you are planning an active holiday - this is the place to book!

Stayed there last September. Needed a city hotel in a budget. That was the one!
Very central location, not expensive and good enough.
Room was comfortable for a city hotel, breakfast good to start the day and in general hotel was our base for our daily adventures in Kos town!

the room inside and the bathroom was really small and not clean at all.
the cleaning staff was very rude, every morning while cleaning the rooms they were shouting and laughing without showing any respect to the customers.
when talking to them they had an ironic way of speaking, they were shouting at you and insulting you.
they did not clean the room every day and they did not have clean towels so we used the same towels for more than 3 days.
One of them (Mrs. Sofia) even told us when we remarked on the above "Quietness till 8 in the morning ... you want clean towels, a clean room and quietness every day who do you think you are?"
although it is mentioned in hotel's facilities that there is parking and a TV we never saw them
their breakfast was awful and smelled of plastic
Stay away from this hotel even though it is in the center and with a good location it is not worth your money and your good vibes

Stayed here in August while having a week exploring kos great location 👍 not the best room but was given another very basic but clean
Breakfast was good a wide selection of continental pastries breads cheeses and ham fruit juices teas and coffee
Lovely veranda to have breakfast and sit and watch the world go by
Sea view which we didn’t have would be perfect as the hotel is on the promanade and on a clear day you can see turkey 🇹🇷
Good base and close enough to walk into kos town fantastic little bakers over the road which seems to be open all night
Check in and out all good reception open 24/7
Staff always happy to help 😊

What can be said. The first impression was ok the reception was good. Guy on desk very helpful. Go to 4th floor room 302. My goodnes !!! Big change. Bedding stained. Walls dirty and lots of marks. Wood work scuffed badly. Toilet and shower disgusting. Very stained . Cobwebs grime. Sink dirty . Windows and mirrors dirty. Breakfast. Help your self. Closes at 10am. 9.30am no milk for cereal waiters have hot milk. I prefer cold. Have yogurt. I prefer cold milk. Waitress we don't have any. 9.45 She goes to shop comes back. Comes over to where we are sitting. Plonks milk on table. For cereal. I say ive had toast now. Do not want cereal now. You don't want ? No 9.55 go for a coffee machine . Turned off I say can I have a coffee No turned off it's finished says waitress me it's not 10am. Waitress no finished and so it went on for the week. Male staff all very polite and helpful. Lady on reception same. Cleaners Do not clean. Waitress unhelpful. Unwilling. Un smiling . Would not stay again.

I dont know where to start. Everything about experience in Greece was simply perfect except Citi Live hotel where we were staying. Breakfast was the same every single day, boling eggs, one type of salami, one cheese, and 2 types of marmelade. If you calculate the combinations you will soon realise that every second day you are eating the same food. There were no fruits, creame cheese, pastetes or something else. In the evening we caught their own stuff with legs on table where we were eating next day.
Roms are messy and small, bathroom is just disgusting...(pictures was already made in one of the reviews).

If I simplify my review... The name of the hotel should be City die. So dissapointed

After first arriving at the hotel this looked modern on the outside but this wasn’t like this in the bedrooms. There was stains in the toilet, shower and sink in which I had cleaned myself as the cleaners must have cleaned the room with water only ( in no way am I a clean freak I just like things to be at least basic clean). We had to ask for fresh towels/bedsheets on the 4th day as it only seems that the beds are made by the maid and nothing would be changed unless asked. Dirt marks were also left on the floor so the room must not of been mopped.
I explained to TUI about the unclean room and they advised that I should contact reception and ask for a “deep clean” surely the room should be basic cleaned for all guests?!
Breakfast is very basic at the hotel with ham, cheese, bread, cereals & boiled eggs.

Throughout our stay we have had multiple powercuts which have woke us up in the night with the electric making loud noises flickering on/off-not only this, be prepared for not a great sleep as all you can hear the maids banging around at early hours.

Despite the above the staff at this hotel were very polite.

I have been to many Greek holidays and this has been one of the worst so I wouldn’t be staying here again

I’m going to write about all the good points about this hotel first, lovely friendly staff who let us use the showers before leaving for our night flight and were always very nice, lovely location with lovely sea view in a nice quieter area of Kos Town.
Breakfast was ok but it was a shame that the hotel ran out of breakfast items each morning like tomatoes or English tea and the coffee was not drinkable, also bigger cups needed.
On the first night I stood on glass in my room and luckily I was not injured and reported this the next day but yet again glass was found again and I had to report a second time, the hotel needs updating to bring it up to a 3 Star, We were with Tui and they started this Was a 3 Star. Tourist tax is 50cent per room per night.
But apart from the negatives I did have a lovely stay at the citi live.

Besides the staff that were very friendly and kind, the room was awful and dirty and the price way high for such a room! Not recommended ! We asked for towels and told us they didn't have clean ones! Even if you only use the room to shower and sleep.. NO !
