Cugo Gran Macina Malta

Overall I enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was great, but there were some important details that made the trip less enjoyable for me. One day I was taking a shower and when I went out of the shower, we had no towels. The hot water run out very fast. Most of the time I showered in very cold water. Also, I had a Marriott Gift Card to pay, the hotel did not accept it even tough they told me it should not be an issue when I checked in. Lastly, they told me I had a room with a great view to the harbour. But my window was looking towards a wall.

Amazing hotel out of the ordinary. The rooms are exceptional and the location could not be better. But I would like to mention the incredibly helpful staff, especially Caterina, who made our stay unforgettable. Highly recommended and quality price outstanding

We have just visited this perfect hotel this weekend! I can summarize our stay in one word : perfect!
Location absolutely close to Valletta
The staff was amazing, very kind and helpful
The room was spacious, clean, beds were comfortable (Grand Harbour Suite)
Breakfast delicious and fresh and the waiters took good care of us
Highly recommend this hotel, we will come back soon for sure!

The location of this hotel is excellent, quieter than the city, but a short walk to the ferry/brief journey on the boat to get to the city centre. Our suite was very good, the separate seating area was useful although the sofa was not especially comfortable. Staff all very professional and helpful. Restaurant was to a good standard for dinner/breakfast. Shame the pool wasn’t heated but understandable given location, even as an outdoor swimmer it was too fresh to use in November! Recommended, definitely worth short listing for your trip plans.

Situated right on the edge of the Marina, with super views, this historical fortress sympathetically and cleverally converted into a lovely 21century hotel did not disappoint.
From the moment I arrived the staff were professional and efficient, whilst all being friendly, caring and helpful.
This complimented the wonderful overall ambience of the building.
Exploring different areas was an adventure in itself, especially the rooftop pool and completely separate roof top lounge, where modern technology blend with 500 year old history.
Every area was, very clean, the rooms spacious and airy, with very comfortable bed, well equipped and good blackout curtains .
Breakfast and dinner all freshly prepared to order was excellent, with a fully stocked bar, the option to eat outdoors and attentive, but not pushy staff, who went the extra mile to ensure guest satisfaction.
For me at the very top end of my budget, but the overall experience was well worth it and I left feeling relaxed , refreshed and most importantly a valued customer.

The location of the hotel is perfect and is situated in one of the three cities, the most romantic and quieter area of Valletta. The water bus to Valletta is only a five minute walk, from the hotel, and these run every thirty minutes.
The hotel is filled with the most amazing and wonderful staff that will do their most to make sure your stay is memorable. The food in 'Little Bastion', the onsite restaurant, cook all items to order so the food is fresh and tasty. We ate in the restaurant daily and the quality and service levels are very good, every request was met with "absolutely" and we felt humbled by this experience.
We stayed in room 210, a harbour view room, with its own private terrace, this had great views and was a nice relaxing space to enjoy in our down-time. This is THE BEST hotel in Valletta!

Amazing hotel with a rich history. The staff pre arrival and arrival were amazing. The location is perfect with great rooms and facilities. We had some great weather in November and enjoyed breakfast outside in the warm sun and blue sky. The breakfast choice was great and all freshly prepared, and the staff were helpful and attentive. Could not recommend Cugó Gran Macina more. You’ll love it!

Tucked away in Senglea this hotel has comfortable rooms cunningly built within an ancient building. The views are lovely. The rooms are quiet and the bed comfortable. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent especially the breakfasts. Thoroughly recommend. We stay whenever we can.
It is also very convenient for the airport, for exploring Valletta and for getting the fast ferry to Gozo.

Beautiful rooms and stunning view of the harbor. Easy to commute to Valletta via ferry. Incredibly friendly and accommodating staff

We stayed 5 nights in a harbour view suite. Really lovely hotel with a calm, quality feel. Facilities were excellent and the small rooftop pool was a added extra.
Located in Senglea, a short boat away from Valetta, it did give a much more relaxed vibe from the busy bustle of Valetta.
Staff were fabulous and so helpful ,Caterina on reception was especially great.
Breakfast was fantastic. All freshly cooked to order and a great choice.
The attached restaurant was really good with a lovely terrace overlooking the marina. It is only open for dinner Weds- Sunday.

The hotel was beautiful and food was good but the staff were the real treat. They were very friendly, helpful and consistently exceeded expectations.

A beautiful, historic building and a lovely, lovely hotel.
Staff could not do enough for us and we're super friendly. Caterena was a star.
Room very well equipped. Various International TV stations and free WiFi.
Breakfast was fabulous with lots of choice and cooked fresh. Great quality.
Rooftop pool was a lovely facility but lost the sun by 4:30 (Oct).
Restaurant was open Weds to Sunday for dinner and was another jem.
Situated in a tranquil suburb across from Valetta you need to take the ferry or a Taxi.
Would not hesitate to stay again

I cannot say enough about how marvelous our experience at Cugo Gran Macina was. The room was lovely, the food was wonderful, but it was the staff who were simply incomparable. They were friendly, courteous, and beyond accommodating. They gave us a beautiful bottle of wine and filled our room with balloons for my husband's birthday. They sent us off to catch an early flight with a packed breakfast. They made dinner reservations for us in a packed restaurant, and they did it all with courtesy and good humor. Highly recommend!

Our second visit here and as before, amazing. The hotel is lovely. Both modern and historical. Well kept and very clean & tidy. Our room was perfect with a very comfy bed and enough room to easily move around and a large bathroom.

Pool terrace holds about 15 beds but we never had any issue getting a sun bed. Fantastic views overlooking the Grand Harbour.

The breakfasts are outstanding and the Little Bastion restaurant never disappointed. Every meal was delicious from bar bites to exceptional evening meals.

Lastly, every member of staff went out of their way to be friendly and look after us.

I’d give them 10 out of 5 if I could!!!

Beautiful small hotel in old fortress. Our room was huge and had a lovely view over the harbour. Great breakfast, very helpful staff and nice area away from crowds but short ferry ride from Valletta. We loved our stay here! Highly recommended!

The staff is the best of any hotel we have ever stayed in. The facility is first class. Breakfast made to order and quick.

Every aspect of our stay, from service to room to breakfast to tips around town was perfect. Room was meticulous, staff was over the top friendly, breakfast was quick and first class. You can’t ask for anything better.

Amazing location close to the passenger ferry to Valletta. Beautiful building, room above and beyond what we expected. Fantastic welcome from reception staff.
Hotel food delicious, breakfast a little expensive and sometimes there were small errors with our order but staff seemed to realise these and were apologetic. Nothing that we would have brought up if they hadn’t realised however.
Free room service and delivery of items to the rooftop pool, lovely setting and towels provided.
Grouting and sealant in the shower looked like it could do with a little refreshment but otherwise cannot complain.
Free parking right opposite which was extremely convenient.
Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

The location it is WONDERLFUL, the service it was the best, the restauran AMAIZING, I love it!!!

We stayed here for 4 nights and really enjoyed it. Honestly, it should have been longer.

Breakfast was excellent, especially the avocado toast which we ended up having almost every day. Coffee and fresh juices were also really good, and snacks at the pool were nice, too. The desserts in the evening (the sorbet and the chocolate fondant / lava cake) were simply amazing and turned even a disappointing dinner outside the hotel into a perfect evening.

Our suite was very spacious and always clean, the bed was super comfortable. The only window was in the roof but it wasn’t a problem for us. What we liked a lot was the heated towel rack: Wrapping yourself in a warm towel after showering felt like a little spa moment.

The rooftop pool was great with an amazing view. Service everywhere (pool, restaurant, reception) was always friendly and attentive.

On the rooftop terrace there is an event location called The Sheer Bastion. It would be nice if it was open in the evenings as a bar. The view is terrific.

A few small things that could be improved:
- a little shelf in the shower for cosmetics would be handy
- some more conveniently placed sockets

Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back when we visit Malta again.
