Upon your arrival in Cusco our team will await you at the airport to bring you to your accommodation. You'll also enjoy the airport drop off upon the day when you depart from Cusco (which can be whatever date). For the tours, you will be picked up from your hotel/hostel/Airbnb (if it's close to the Cusco city center). IMPORTANT: After you made your reservation, please send us immediately via the TripAdvisor messenger the pickup location and food preferences. This messenger will be available within your booking confirmation.

    Welcome to Cusco and airport pickup

    Our team will give you a hearty welcome upon your arrival in Cusco and bring you to your accommodation. Today you'll begin with the acclimation phase, so you'll keep it slow and easy, discovering Cusco city (we'll be happy to recommend beautiful historical places, or coordinate a half-day city tour with you which is optional and not included).

    6:45 am: Pickup from your hotel in Cusco and 1h ride to Chinchero where a lovely lady awaits us.

    8:00 am: For about 1 hour we have the pleasure to learn more about the weaving traditions with alpaca wool, as well as feeding breakfast to some lovely alpacas and llamas.

    Archaeological Park Ollantaytambo

    The last impressive site you'll get to discover today. The fortress of Ollantaytambo, where heavy fights have been experienced between the last Inca and the Spaniards. Hike up the stairs to have a spectacular view over the ruins and Ollantaytambo village.

    Ollantaytambo

    Drop-off at the train station in Ollantaytambo to take the train we'll have organized for you to Aguas Calientes. In case you prefer to overnight in Cusco the day prior to Machu Picchu, we'll bring you back to Cusco and drop you off at your accommodation. This evening we'll rest early, to be fully prepared for the upcoming adventure, Machu Picchu!

    Private Machu Picchu Day Tour

    Aguas Calientes

    We do recommend overnighting in Aguas Calientes the night prior to Machu Picchu, to avoid the 3.5h long transportation by private van and train in the early morning in case of starting that day from Cusco. Aguas Calientes is the perfect option to sleep longer and the only option to enter at 6 am with the first sun-rays Machu Picchu. In case you still wish to stay in Cusco, that's doable too.

    Machu Picchu

    After taking the 30 min bus from Aguas Calientes to the entrance, it's time to enter this magical place. Get to one of the most fascinating viewpoints of Machu Picchu, for your postcard alike picture, before you enter the archeological site with our guide. Enjoy a 2.5 instead of typical 2 hour guided tour in Machu Picchu, and learn as much as possible about this impressive place, before heading back to Aguas Calientes by bus.

    After your return from Machu Picchu, you'll have some time to enjoy lunch before boarding the train to head back. We can recommend Full House as one of the most delicious restaurants in Aguas Calientes, but there are also plenty more. The 1.5h train back brings you to Ollantaytambo.

    Rainbow Mountain

    After your reservation, you will receive information about the two Rainbow Mountain options to decide later on which one you'd like to experience. The Vinincunca or Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain. The pickup will be at your accommodation at 3:00 am to arrive before the crowds.

    Vinicunca Mountain

    Either the Vinicunca or Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain it will be. The Vinicunca has a 1.5-2 hour hike up, while the Palccoyo is a very flat and short path of max 1 hour to the main viewpoint. With both options, you'll spend around 1.5-2 hours at the top before we head back down. To enjoy the calmness, air, and spectacular view for amazing pictures and videos.

    With both options we will be back in Cusco around 3.30 pm, to rest for the afternoon. You'll have the chance to decide, if you'd like to have the next day off and recently afterwards hike the Humantay Lake, or do it the following day.

    Upon our arrival at the parking lot, we'll have a quick briefing, receive the hiking poles, and start our walk through an amazing landscape. After 1.5 hours, we arrive as one of the first travelers at beautiful Humantay Lake to enjoy the calmness and beautiful nature. From here we head toward to best spots in the upper area to take incredible pictures before we return back.
