Huchuy Qosqo Trek is an amazing hiking to Machu Picchu, that combines camping, adventure, history and culture. This short trek allow you to enjoy beautiful views over the Urubamba mountain range and landscapes through the Sacred Valley of the Incas .
You will sleep at a local family’s home for one night and then sleep in a Hotel on the next night in Aguas Calientes town..
pick-up and drop-off at Hotels, Hostels or Airbnb in Cusco city.
Early morning you will be picked up from your hotel and then drive in our private transportation to the small village of Patabamba (3,800m/12,467ft),The day’s hike will start at this point with a gentle hike uphill through Andean landscapes for the next 3 hours to get to the highest point of the trek (4,200m/13,779ft). From there, we have beautiful views of the surrounding snowcapped mountains and valleys. Then , we will walk downhill into a mystical ancient path which will lead us to the Leon Punku and we will be led into a very narrow corridor, between some immense rock walls, where we will discover some Incan remains and Inca bridges. After the box lunch, we continue our afternoon hike towards our destination Huchuy Qosqo (3600 mt./11811ft.) ,Upon our arrival we will continue on past the ruins and we head to our homestay. you will see all the amazing views of the surrounding areas and in the evening you will have the opportunity to enjoy the sky full of stars.
After breakfast , you will have a guided visit of the site Huchuy Qosqo ,an Inca archaeological complex with imposing architecture that includes a large open ceremonial center ,store houses and water channels surrounded by Inca agricultural terracing . After the guided tour of the site, we will begin our 2-hour walk downhill to the village of Lamay (3000 mt./ 9840 ft.) where we will have lunch. Afterwards, our private transport drives us to Ollantaytambo (2,792 mt /9,160 ft), where we will have time to visit and explore the well-preserved Inca town , where we can still see the original Inca streets,houses and and waterways, then we will board an afternoon train to Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night in a hotel.
We wake up early. After breakfast ,we leave our luggage at the hotel and take the earliest bus up to Machu Picchu. The first bus leaves at about 5:30 am and arrives to Machu Picchu about 30 minutes later. Once there, early in the morning you will have a guided tour of the major sites of the Lost City of the Incas Machu Picchu (2,400 m/7,875 ft).for about 2 hours , after this you will have free time to take photos and explore the mysterious city by yourself. If you still have energy, you can also climb Huayna Picchu (2.720 m/8.923 ft). It takes 45 minutes to reach the top of Huayna Picchu (round trip approx. 2 hrs to hike up and down ) Afterwards, we will take the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes (2040 m.a.s.l). In this town, you will be able to have lunch ( not included ) and later in the afternoon, we will take the train back to Ollantaytmabo or Poroy train station , then we will be transferred to our hotel, we can expect to arrive to Cusco by 8:30 PM.
