Continue ascending to Acjanaco Pass at 3,600 meters, the official entrance to Manu National Park. From this dramatic ridge, take in sweeping views of the Amazon Basin, where the Andes melt into the rainforest. This is a key transition zone for biodiversity and a photographer’s dream.
Accommodation: Ensuite room at Rainforest Lodge in Pilcopata Arrive at your jungle lodge in Pilcopata and settle into comfortable accommodations surrounded by nature. Enjoy a typical Amazonian dinner and relax after a full day of travel and cultural discovery.
Start the day with a traditional Amazonian breakfast. Then, continue your journey via overland transport toward the edge of the lowland rainforest.
Upon reaching the nearby port town, you’ll connect with a local transfer service (operated by authorized community providers) that brings you deeper into the forest to your next lodge. After check-in, enjoy a guided walk through jungle trails where you’ll learn about medicinal plants, spot native birds, monkeys, and other wildlife. Lunch will be served at the lodge, followed by leisure time to rest or enjoy the natural surroundings. Later in the afternoon, take part in a peaceful floating experience on the river using a traditional wooden raft (conditions permitting), ideal for birdwatching and photography. In the evening, an optional guided night walk offers the chance to encounter nocturnal animals, including caimans and frogs.
At dawn, join your guide for a short local transfer to a nearby viewing site where parrots and parakeets gather at a clay lick, a colorful and unforgettable natural event. Return to the lodge for breakfast.
Return Journey Begin the return to Cusco, with transportation arranged via ground transfer and local services, retracing your journey through cloud forests and valleys. Arrival in Cusco is expected by late afternoon
