Trek to Machu Picchu with awe-inspiring views of the Sacred Valley dotted with magnificent Inca archaeological sites, such as Huchuy Qosqo. Stay away from the crowds on this lesser-known route and appreciate the beauty of this remote trail. Spend day one hiking through the famed Sacred Valley as you explore magnificent ruins and cross the Piuray Pass, situated at 14,100 feet (4,300 meters) of altitude, before arriving at Aguas Calientes in the evening. On day two ascend to the hilltop citadel of Machu Picchu to enjoy a 2-hour guided tour, plus free time to explore this amazing archaeological site on your own.

Today you will be picked up from your hotel between 5:30 and 6:00 am and head towards the community of Lago Piuray, close to the town of Chinchero which will take us an hour to reach. There we will begin our adventure at 3600 m. The trek begins with a 3-hour walk upwards until arrival at Piuray passage located at 4100 m. We will be awarded with a beautiful panoramic view of the Urubamba mountain range and small lagoons. Our adventure continues with a 2-hour downhill journey towards the Huchuy Qosqo ruins, a beautiful Inca city built in the Sacred Valley of the Inca. Its name in Quechua means "Little Cuzco". There our guide will lead the visit across this magical archeological site. At the end of our visit we will have some time to enjoy our box lunch. Then, with a steep 2 hour downhill walk we’ll make our way to the town of Lamay. Our transport service will pick us up and drive us to Ollantaytambo, where we will be provided with a delicious dinner before boarding the train that’ll drop us at Aguas Calientes, our host for the night. Note: Alternatively the dinner can take place at Aguas Calientes (depending on the train schedule)

2Machu Picchu
Get an early start and take one of the first buses (5:30am) to reach the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu (25-min ride), where you will enjoy a 2 hour guided tour visiting all the corners of this gorgeous site. You'll get some free time to take unrepeatable photos and head back to the spot that caught your eye the most. Then we will board the bus that’ll take us back to Aguas Calientes, followed by the train to Ollantaytambo and we will finish off with the bus to Cusco. Please make your own way back to your hotel.

- Physical Requirements: This hike is Moderate - The uphill portions require moderate to good physical condition and are most difficult as we reach the high pass at 4000m. After crossing the high pass, there is a steep descent (approx. 4 hours), it's recommended to use trekking poles for stability and to reduce strain on the knees
- You have the option of taking an early return train or a late return train departing Aguas Calientes at 2:30pm, 4:12pm and 7pm, respectively. Please make this selection upon booking.
