The day before departure, you'll meet your guide and fellow adventurers for a pre-tour briefing. Here, you'll receive all the important information, gear instructions, and have the chance to ask any questions to ensure you're fully prepared for the journey ahead. START - 07:00 AM. Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco. You will travel by minibus through the Sacred Valley, passing through the towns of Chinchero, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo. Upon reaching the Abra Málaga pass, you'll gear up and get ready for the mountain biking portion of the tour. You'll enjoy panoramic views of the snow-capped Huacay Willca (also known as Veronica) before beginning your thrilling descent. The 55 km (34.18 miles) route takes you from the high Andean pass at 14,272 ft (4,350 m) down to the lush, lower jungle at 3,937 ft (1,200 m). During the 3-hour ride, you'll feel the rush of adrenaline, eventually stopping at the Huamanmarca archaeological site for lunch.
After lunch, a minibus will take us to the town of Santa María. Once we arrive, it’s time for even more adventure—get ready for an exciting white-water rafting experience on the local river! (This activity is included in your tour reservation.) If you prefer something more relaxed, you can use the afternoon to rest or explore Santa María at your own pace. It’s a great chance to grab some snacks, drinks, or simply take in the local vibe. In the evening, we'll enjoy a group dinner at a local restaurant before settling in for the night at a cozy family-run hostel.
Early in the morning you will have breakfast at the hostel and then you will start the route to Quellomayo. A 1 hour trekking route, following a section of the Inca Trail: the Qhapaq Ñan. Along the way, you will see plantations of coffee, cacao, yucca, and different birds such as hummingbirds and parrots since in those moments you will be totally surrounded by a more tropical ecosystem.
Arriving at Quellomayo, we will stop for lunch, and then continue the route to Santa Teresa. On the way you will have the opportunity to stop at the thermal baths of Cocalmayo. Undoubtedly, one of the best experiences of the day, enjoying a hot bath in the middle of nature. Once you arrive in Santa Teresa, you will have free time to go zip lining (included in the tour) or go for a walk and have a drink in one of its typical bars. Finally, you will have dinner together and spend the night in our exclusives Sky Lodge Domes.
After a filling breakfast, we’ll begin our trek to Hidroelectrica (6,233.6 ft / 1,900 m) along an ancient Inca trail. The two-hour hike will lead us to a series of stunning waterfalls originating from the nearby glaciers, where we’ll stop to rest and enjoy the view.
Upon reaching Hidroelectrica, we’ll enjoy a well-deserved lunch at one of the local restaurants, refueling before the final stretch of our journey. Next, we’ll embark on a 5.59-mile (9 km) walk along the railroad tracks that connect Hidroelectrica to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. This beautiful route winds through an incredible valley, where the vegetation transitions into the lush high jungle.
Once we arrive in Aguas Calientes, we’ll check into our lodgings and have some free time to explore the town. You can visit the local market, shop for souvenirs, or unwind with a relaxing dip in the hot springs (entrance fee: $5.00). Later in the afternoon, we’ll gather with the group for a delicious dinner at a local restaurant. Your guide will give a briefing about the exciting day ahead—your visit to the majestic Machu Picchu!
Today we will wake up early to enjoy the most awaited moment: the entrance to Machu Picchu.
