This is a day tour that will take experience the history, culture, and heritage of the old Bengali nation from the history of the Mughal Empire to the British transformation. You will learn about the past and current position of Bangladesh and experience the golden era of Bangali history.
We will pick you up from your hotel or residence in Dhaka City and start moving towards Sonargaon (approx. 1 to 1.5 hours journey). 11:00 am – 11:30 am: First we will visit Goaldi Mosque which was built in 1519 A.D. in a village Goaldi in Sonargaon by Mulla Hizabar Akbar Khan during the reign of Sultan Hussain Shah. It is one of the ancient Mosques of Bangladesh. We take a little tea break here.
Boro Sardar Bari in Sonargaon is a historic mansion built in 1901 by the wealthy merchant family of Sardar. Known for its elegant Indo-European architectural style, the building features grand columns, arched windows, and intricate designs. Once a symbol of prosperity, it now serves as part of the Sonargaon Folk Arts and Crafts Museum, showcasing the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Bengal. It is one of the most prominent attractions in Sonargaon, reflecting the grandeur of the region’s past.
We will go Main Building (Prasad) that used to be a King Isa Kha’s palace. Now is used for Folk, Art and Craft Museum and also cover the newly constructed building of folk art as well. We walk through the whole campus to explore ancient Capital of Bengal.
We will visit the Panam City which was built in 1500 A.D. Some wealthy Hindu Lords operated their business here and made a city to live with all facilities.The area is divided by a single road is the main colonial system buildings. Those artistic building will take us the ancient of Bangla. 1:30 pm – 2:00 pm: We will take our lunch at a nearby restaurant with local food that may be a little spicy and hot. Please let us know after booking if you need special needs.. 2:00 pm – 2:30 pm: We will take a little rest under greenwood tree and gossip ourselves.
We will go to the Meghna River to ride on a boat. Megh is one of the 3 major rivers in Bangladesh. Sonargaon is situated on the bank of the river Meghna.
Jamdani Palli is a traditional weaving village located in Rupganj, Narayanganj, near Dhaka. It is the heart of Bangladesh’s centuries-old Jamdani weaving heritage, where skilled artisans handloom intricate patterns on fine muslin fabric. Recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, Jamdani sarees from this village are prized for their delicate motifs and timeless elegance. A visit to Jamdani Palli offers a glimpse into the painstaking craftsmanship, vibrant culture, and living tradition that has been passed down through generations.
