Begin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco and a scenic drive to Pisac Archaeological Park, making stops along the way at breathtaking viewpoints and a traditional llama & alpaca farm. Enjoy a guided exploration of Pisac’s most remarkable Inca sites before embarking on a section of the famous Inca Trail leading to the vibrant Pisac market. Along the way, discover impressive agricultural terraces and a hidden waterfall, experiencing a true “living museum” of Incan farming techniques. Savor freshly baked empanadas in Pisac town and indulge in a picnic lunch prepared by your personal cook. After a full day of exploration, return to your lodge for a well-deserved rest.
We will pick you up at your hotel in Ollantaytambo at about 9am with our private transport and take you to the highest pass of Abra Malaga which is 4,350 meters above sea level. We will arrive there around midday and take out the mountain bikes which we will use to make the descent on asphalt roads in the midst of the jungle. If the weather does not allow it, we will take the car to perform this part of the trek. We ride our mountain bikes until we arrive at the little community of Carrizales where we will enjoy the view of Alfamayo and a little time for rest and pictures. After a well-deserved rest, we will continue our descent with our mountain bikes through attractive villages in the midst of the tropical forest. The total bike ride will take us about 2 1/2 hours. On the way, we will visit the archaeological site of Wamanmarka. Afterwards, we will offer you the time to enjoy the beautiful landscape with its vegetation and marvelous fauna. Arriving in Santa Maria (1430m), we will have lunch and then we are going to do rafting in the afternoon. After rafting, we will drive 1 hour to Santa Teresa with the option of stopping at the Cocalmayo hot springs. We’ll finish our fun filled day when we arrive at the ECO Lodge tree house around 6pm.
In the morning, we will head to do some exhilarating ziplining across the Urubamba river. This is a unique and adventurous experience full of adrenaline as you pass from one side of the valley to the other. If you’re courageous, the zipline operators will let you have fun by trying different positions or different lines. To get to one of the lines, you’ll need to walk across an awesome suspension bridge. Ziplining starts at about 7am and last until 10am. Afterwards, we will head to have our breakfast close to the hydroelectrical station. When we conclude our breakfast, we will continue our trek on the bank of the Urubamba river for about 3 hours until we arrive at Aguas Calientes, a little town at the foot of Machu Picchu. On our way, we will pass the natural park of Mandor where beautiful local flowers and bird life thrive. In Aguas Calientes, we will have lunch and rest for the night. Enjoy the hot tubs in here for maximum relaxation.
After we’ve had a specially prepared breakfast, we will leave our hotel at an early 530am to catch one of the first buses to Machu Picchu. No hitting the snooze alarm this day! The ride takes roughly half an hour. From the bus, you will probably be astonished by the amazing view of the sunrise over Machu Picchu. Our tour guide will offer you a guided visit of about 2 hours after which you will be free to explore the ruins at your own pace or leisure. You can also choose to brave the high challenging climbs of Wayna Picchu and Machu Picchu mountains. Since Wayna Picchu and Machu Picchu mountains are not part of the regular tour, please let us know of your desire to try these in a response to our booking confirmation email. We can purchase those tickets early for you. Only a limited number are allowed up that part of Machu Picchu each day so it would be best to let us know of your desire to try that hike as early as possible. If you survive this tough climb, you will be rewarded with an amazing view over Machu Picchu and join the exclusive club of the awesome people of the world. It’s truly an accomplishment! Once you have enjoyed your time at Machu Picchu, tour buses will offer you a descent back to the town of Aguas Calientes where we will take the train to Ollantaytambo where our bus awaits you to continue on to Cusco.
