The Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain in the Peruvian Andes offers an alternative experience to the more well-known Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain. One of the standout features of Palccoyo is that it is less frequented by tourists, resulting in a more peaceful and unhurried atmosphere for visitors. This contrasts with the often crowded trails of Vinicunca. Furthermore, the trek to Palccoyo is shorter and generally considered easier, catering to those who may not want a strenuous hike but still wish to experience the beauty of natural rainbow mountains.
Unlike Vinicunca, which boasts one primary rainbow-patterned mountain, Palccoyo offers views of three colored mountains, enriching the panoramic experience. Alongside these colorful terrains, the region is home to the unique Stone Forest, an enchanting rock formation. The journey to Palccoyo also provides visitors with a closer glimpse of local Quechua communities, offering insights into their traditions, agriculture, and rich cultural heritage.

It will be a two and a half hour drive from Cusco. Once in Checacupe, we wll have some time to stretch our legs and use restrooms before we enter the Palccoyo Community, home to the Rainbow Mountain

It will be an hour and a half drive uo to Palccoyo. You will have time to relish the views and time to interact with locals and get an insight into their life. Once we reach Palccoyo, our guide will give you a detailed intruction on the prominence of the mountain in Andean mythology while you soak in the pristine views.

After the tour, we will be driving you down back to Checacupe. Here we will be stopping at a local restaurant for lunch.

5Plaza Regocijo (Kusipata)
We will be embarking on a three hour drive back to Cusco. We will be dropping you off at Plaza Regocijo, a block away from Cusco's main square.
