Pickup is provided from the traveler’s hotel in the city of Cusco early in the morning. The service applies to accommodations located within the historic center; otherwise, a nearby meeting point will be arranged.
The day begins with hotel pickup in Cusco early in the morning as we head toward the village of Qorao. Along the way, we make a brief stop in Qorao, where you can observe extensive agricultural fields cultivated since ancestral times. The journey then continues to the community of Siwar (3,762 m / 12,342 ft), the starting point of the hike. The trekking route follows a dirt trail with a moderate incline up to Pucajasa Pass (4,393 m / 14,412 ft), offering panoramic views of the Urubamba mountain range. The descent then begins, crossing ancient sections of the Inca Trail and experiencing the gradual changes in the Andean ecological zones.
Upon arrival at the Huchuy Qosqo archaeological complex (3,688 m / 12,100 ft), a guided visit provides insight into its history and significance. Afterwards, the trail descends to the village of Lamay (2,938 m / 9,639 ft), where a local lunch prepared by community members is enjoyed. In the afternoon, the journey continues to Ollantaytambo, where the train is taken to Aguas Calientes for an overnight stay and preparation for the following day’s visit.
After breakfast, the day begins with a bus ride from Aguas Calientes to the entrance of Machu Picchu, located at 2,430 m (7,972 ft). The guided tour lasts approximately two hours, during which you will explore temples, plazas, terraces, and ceremonial structures, while learning about the history, architecture, and symbolism of the Inca citadel.
At the end of the visit, you will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have free time to stroll through the town or relax before the return journey. In the afternoon, you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by a ground transfer to Cusco, bringing this enriching experience of history, Andean landscapes, and Inca heritage to a close.
