Pick up from Cusco hotels and travel to Chinchero The service begins with pickup from your hotel in Cusco at approximately 7:30 a.m. From there, we will head towards Chinchero, the first tourist spot of the Sacred Valley tour. Chinchero is known for its impressive landscape, colonial church and traditional artisan market, where you can appreciate the living culture of the Andean region.
Visit to the Archaeological Center of Chinchero In Chinchero, we will visit its important archaeological center, renowned for its impressive Inca agricultural terraces and architectural vestiges. This site reveals the sophisticated engineering and cultural legacy of the Inca civilization. During the tour, our professional guide will explain the history, agricultural and ceremonial importance of the place, in addition to the relationship of the village with its ancestral traditions.
We will continue the journey to the community of Misminay, located in a rural environment surrounded by mountains and farm fields. The arrival, we will be greeted with a warm welcome by the local families, who will share with us part of their daily life. After the reception, we will take a short walk to the natural viewpoint of Moray, from where we can appreciate a breathtaking view of the circular Inca terraces and the landscape surrounding the Sacred Valley. This point offers a unique perspective to understand the magnitude and harmony of Inca agricultural design. Upon returning to the community, we will participate in an experiential experience where we will learn about Andean agriculture, the preparation of traditional dishes or the art of weaving. At noon we will enjoy a typical lunch prepared with organic products grown by the commoners, in an authentic atmosphere and with a privileged view of the Sacred Valley.
Continuing the tour, we will head for about an hour to the Moray Andenes, a fascinating Inca agricultural research center located in the heart of the Sacred Valley. This archaeological site stands out for its huge circular terraces in the shape of an amphitheater, which were used by the Incas to experiment with different crops and microclimates. These terraces form a kind of agricultural laboratory where plants were grown in conditions that simulated varied altitudes, which allowed optimizing food production for the empire. During the visit, our professional guide will explain the operation and historical importance of Moray, as well as its relevance in ancient agriculture that still influences modern techniques. In addition, you can enjoy the stunning landscape surrounding the place, ideal for unique photographs and to connect with the millennial wisdom of the Incas.
We will continue the tour with a transfer of approximately 30 minutes to the famous Salineras de Maras, an impressive complex of thousands of salt evaporation pools exploited since pre-Inca times. Located in a valley surrounded by mountains, these salt flats offer a unique and culturally significant landscape. The guide will explain the traditional artisanal salt extraction process, where salt water is channeled from a natural source to the pools to evaporate and leave the salt ready for harvest. This ancestral technique is kept alive by local communities that have preserved this legacy for generations. The Salineras de Maras are an essential stop for those who want to discover the history, culture and rural life of the Sacred Valley, while enjoying spectacular views.
After the visit to the Salineras de Maras, we will continue the journey for approximately 30 minutes to Urubamba, where Tunupa restaurant awaits us to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. This restaurant is renowned for offering a varied selection of typical Peruvian and international dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients from the region. Lunch in Tunupa is an excellent opportunity to rest and recharge, while enjoying a welcoming atmosphere and panoramic views of the Sacred Valley.The guide will be available to answer any questions and ensure your experience is comfortable and enjoyable. This gastronomic break is an essential part of the tour, complementing the cultural and natural experience of the day with the culinary richness of Peru.
After lunch, we will head to Ollantaytambo, one of the most impressive and well-preserved archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley. This ancient Inca village served as a military fortress and religious center, and today preserves its original layout, with cobblestone streets and structures dating back to the 15th century. During the visit, our professional guide will explain the history, architecture and strategic function of Ollantaytambo within the Inca Empire. You can explore the agricultural terraces, temples and aqueducts, as well as enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding valley. After a short visit and free time for dinner, we will board the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo) at 07:00 p.m. Along the way we will enjoy a beautiful landscape of the Urubamba River and the mountains of the valley. Upon arrival, around 09:00 p.m., we will be transferred to the hotel to rest and prepare for the great experience of the next day
Upon arrival at Aguas Calientes Machu Picchu, the staff will be waiting for you at the departure of the train station to transfer you to the selected hotel and give you directions so that we can visit Machu Picchu. Night hotel Machu Picchu
After early breakfast at the hotel, at 06:30 a.m. we will take the bus that will take us to the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Upon arrival, we will have a guided tour of approximately two and a half hours of the main sectors of the sanctuary: the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana or solar clock, the Temple of Three Windows, the Main Square and the residential areas. During the tour, our guide will reveal the history, mysteries and deep spiritual connection that the Incas had with this sacred place, nestled between mist-covered mountains and tropical vegetation. At the end of the guided tour, we will have free time to tour Machu Picchu at our own pace, enjoy the scenery or, if we have the corresponding income, ascend to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain to get a spectacular panoramic view of the sanctuary and the natural environment.
Around noon we will descend again by bus to Aguas Calientes, where we can have free lunch and make some souvenir purchases at the local market. In the afternoon, we will board the return train to Ollantaytambo (schedule subject to availability), enjoying once again the beautiful landscape of the valley
Arrival will await tourist transport for the return to Cusco, where we will arrive at approximately 08:00 p.m., concluding this unforgettable experience through the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu.
