Tenby, Wales

3 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English

This is the only guided kayak trip that launches from Tenby Town itself - straight off Castle Beach in the heart of the harbour, no minibus transfers or trailers. Groups are small (12 maximum) and led by qualified local guides who have been exploring this coastline for years and pick the best route for the sea conditions on the day. We're a fully licensed (AALA) activity provider and Tenby's top-rated activity on Tripadvisor, with more than 30,000 adventurers guided since 2017. Stable sit-on-top kayaks and full kit are included, so complete beginners and families are genuinely welcome - most of our paddlers have never kayaked before.

What to expect

The trip starts at our kayaking HQ on Castle Beach. We'll will kit you out with a wetsuit or waterproof kag (depending on the weather), a buoyancy aid and a helmet, then run through a short paddling lesson covering everything you need - no experience required, our stable sit-on-top kayaks are hard to fall out of!
From there we launch straight off Castle Beach into the sheltered water beneath Castle Hill. You'll paddle past the historic old lifeboat station and along North Beach, taking in the famous view of Tenby's pastel-coloured Georgian seafront - a view you can only really get from the water. As we head up the coast towards Monkstone Point, your guide will point out seabirds, hidden coves and beaches you can't reach on foot, with views across to Caldey Island along the way.
The highlight comes at St Catherine's Island: when the sea conditions allow, we'll explore its remarkable sea caves by kayak, gliding right inside passages carved out by the waves. Your guide reads the conditions on the day and picks the best route for your group, so every trip is a little different.
We finish back at Castle Beach, where you can hand over your kit, grab a coffee next door and compare photos.
