    Puno

    They say that at least once in your life you have to undertake the famous Ruta del Sol through the south of Peru. They say that everyone who does this route ends up captivated by the history, landscapes and gastronomy of the Andes. To check whether this statement is true or not, we will meet at the indicated time at the bus terminal in Puno.

    From this terminal we will depart to the town of Pukara. What is the legacy of the ancient Andean settlers? We will discover it by visiting the interpretation center of Pukara, in this place are the famous Pukara bulls, clay figures painted in different colors that are a symbol of protection, prosperity and fertility in southern Peru. From Pukara we will continue to La Raya pass, where we will make a brief stop to take pictures of this impressive mountain pass located more than 4300 meters above sea level.

    La Raya Pass

    After taking the necessary photos at La Raya, we will go to a local restaurant to replenish our strength with a buffet lunch. After lunch we will go to the well known archaeological site of Raqchi. In this enclave we will see the remains of the ancient temple of the god Wiracocha, a deity whose veneration in pre-Hispanic times is dotted with numerous enigmas, legends and mysteries.

    After the guided visit to the archaeological park of Raqchi, we will head to the village of Andahuaylillas, where we will visit the church of San Pedro Apostle. Did you know that it is known as the Sistine Chapel of America? Do you think this statement is exaggerated? Wait then to see the inside of this majestic temple! After eleven hours of walking, we will finish the Ruta del Sol leaving you at the point of arrival.
