    Cusco City to Tambo Machay – Pukamarca Community

    Departure from your Hotel at 6:30 am and transfer to Tambomachay, just 20 minutes from the city of Cusco.

    Tambomachay

    We will begin to walk slowly through the highest mountains of the Cusco region, where our guide will do the Kintu (ceremony) to Pachamama (Mother Earth). We will see pastures of alpacas, llamas, native birds, and beautiful blue lakes on the way, where we will enjoy our organic lunch.

    Pukamarca Community to Huchuy Qosqo Palace – Aguas Calientes Machu Picchu Pueblo

    On the second day of the trip, after enjoying breakfast we will begin a gradual descent to the archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo at 3600 m, a spectacular ancient city in the upper part of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way we will pass refreshing streams, beautiful canyons, small waterfalls, the red Kantu flower, the amazing landscape of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Peruvian hummingbirds, and impressive views of Huchuy Qosqo.

    We will see important constructions in Huchuy Qosqo such as the palace of the Inca king Wiracocha, the water temple, and ceremonial altars. Huchuy Qosqo is a hidden fortress on the way to the citadel of Machu Picchu – its name means “little Cusco” but it is much less visited. It is located at 3,600 above sea level. Then we will descend to the village of Villa Carmen.

    We will have an organic lunch in a local tourist house where we will enjoy guinea pig, a traditional dish from the sacred valley of the Incas, accompanied by the traditional Chicha del Valle Sagrado (Incan Beer).

    Ollantaytambo

    Here our private transport will pick us up to go down to Ollantaytambo, a city considered “living Inca” with original Inca walls and cobbled streets. There we will enjoy our dinner before taking our train to Aguas Calientes.

    Our guide will take you to the Ollantaytambo train station. We board our train, on a two-hour trip to Machu Picchu Pueblo, where our staff will pick you up and take you to your accommodation.

    Machu Picchu Tour – back to Cusco City

    Aguas Calientes

    Today is an important day because you will explore Machu Picchu - one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The Machu Picchu sanctuary is open from 6:00 am. For this activity, we will start with an early breakfast at our hotel. Together with our official guide, we will go to the bus station to take the bus to Machu Picchu. Have on hand the bus tickets, entrance tickets to Machu Picchu, and your original passport. After a 35-minute bus ride, once we arrive at the entrance gate, we check in with our passports and entrance tickets to Machu Picchu.

    Machu Picchu

    Then we will start the guided tour of 2 hours in the sacred city, exploring all the sacred places of the Incas, such as the Temple of the Sun, Royal Tomb, Inca Intiwatana (sundial rock), Plaza de Armas, Temple of the 3 Windows, the artisan sector, the Temple of the Condor, Inca architecture and hydraulic engineering, as well many others. There are beautiful animals on the Machu Picchu tour such as llamas and alpacas.

    We recommend taking the bus back down to the village 3 hours before your train departs. In Aguas Calientes town you can have lunch, visit the hot springs, or walk through the city and the craft market.
