Salkantay is one of the trekking circuits that lead to Machu Picchu. This route runs through the southern part of the Vilcabamba Mountain Range, showing beautiful landscapes that vary from pampa to jungle. Far from the crowds of tourists and the bureaucratic difficulties of the best known circuits, Salkantay offers privacy and authenticity to travelers who dare to go on this trek.

With a duration of between 4 and 5 days, this tour visits several highland towns, as well as lagoons, hot springs and the famous snowy Salkantay.

    Day 1

    DAY 1: CUSCO - MOLLEPATA - CHALLACANCHA - SORAYPAMPA

    We start with the pick up from their respective hotel at 05:00 a.m. to then board our bus which take 4 hours from Cusco - Molletapata through the bus is clearly to see the snowy Salkantay and white as the Humantay the sacred gods of the Incas, the spectacular panoramic view at the top and lower valleys with the colorful landscape.     DAY 2: SORAYPAMPA - SALKANTAY PASS - HUAYRAMACHAY - CHAULLAY

    Early wake up with the first light of the day at 05:00 in the morning to pack the staff, breakfast and then start walking to the highest point of the Salkantay Pass route (4650 masl -15,255 feet) the distance is 7 km in 3 hours, on the ascent through the lower part between the rocky valley of the magnificent Salkantay Mountain (6200 masl - 20,341 feet). We reached the top of the hike. We will be able to appreciate spectacular views of the mountains and the imposing snowy peaks of Salkantay, Humantay, Tucarhuay and Pumasillo.     DAY 4: SANTA TERESA - LUCMABAMBA - LLACTAPATA - HIDROELECTRICA - AGUAS CALIENTES

    After breakfast, we will take a local transport to Lucmabamba (40 minute trip) to our hiking starting point. Once at the Llactapata entrance, you will start an ascent walk towards the Llactapata ruins. Along the way you will be able to observe coffee plantations, beautiful landscapes, as well as diverse flora and fauna. After three hours, you arrive at Llactapata, where you will have an impressive view of Machupicchu. Here you will have time to rest and enjoy the scenery. A descending path will take you to the hydroelectric plant where you will eat lunch. The last park of the walk, a walk of approximately 2 hours, takes us to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, you will be accommodated at the hostel or at a hotel of your choice (included in this package). You can enjoy dinner at a local restaurant around 7:00 p.m.
