We visit the Cordillera Negra, offering magnificent panoramic views of the Cordillera Blanca. At this beautiful lagoon, you may observe wild ducks in their natural habitat. Hiking time: approx. 2–3 hours. Its name comes from the Quechua words willca (grandchild) and cocha (lagoon), meaning “Lagoon of the Grandchild.”
On the Rocotuyoc Lagoon tour, you will discover one of the newest attractions within Huascarán National Park. After pickup from your hotel or meeting point, we depart at 9:00 a.m., heading north of Huaraz toward the Cordillera Blanca and the Honda Valley. First stop: Marcara village, at a local restaurant to arrange lunch. Second stop: Pacharuri Waterfall. Third stop (optional): Ancient rock paintings. Fourth stop: Rocotuyoc Lagoon (4,500 m), featuring breathtaking scenery and turquoise-green waters. Continuing the tour, we take a 40-minute hike to the Frozen Lagoon, located at the base of Paccharaju Peak (5,745 m). Return to Huaraz around 5:00 p.m.
This beautiful turquoise-colored lagoon is one of the most popular and frequently visited destinations within Huascarán National Park. After pickup from your hotel or meeting point, we depart at 8:00 a.m., heading east of Huaraz. Transfer to the trailhead at Pitec (3,750 m), where the hike begins. The hike takes approximately 2 hours to reach Churup Lagoon (4,450 m). Return to Huaraz around 3:00 p.m.
