The Manu National Park is a protected natural area. It is divided into the core zone, the reserved zone and the cultural zone. The latter is the one we visited in the four days. The Manu is one of the most biodiverse regions in the world and that is why it is one of the most appreciated regions. Here 223 species of mammals and 1005 of birds have been registered. It also holds the world record for diversity of amphibian (155) and reptile (132) species for a protected area.

As we descended into the cloud forest, the landscape completely changed—lush, green, and full of life. We made several stops along the way to spot birds, monkeys, and other wildlife, which made the experience even more special. One of the highlights was seeing the Cock-of-the-rock, Peru’s national bird—truly impressive! We arrived in Pillcopata in the afternoon, where we had dinner and stayed overnight in a comfortable lodge with a private bathroom and mosquito nets. A perfect end to an amazing first day

Sailing along the Madre de Dios River was beautiful, surrounded by pure Amazon nature. We then arrived at another eco-lodge to relax and have lunch. In the afternoon, we headed to Machuwasi Lake. After a short boat ride and walk, we reached this peaceful place where we went canoeing. It was a great experience—we saw birds, capybaras, and other wildlife up close. We also climbed a watchtower for amazing jungle views. Back at the eco-lodge, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast before heading out on a guided jungle walk. We explored the forest, saw the impressive giant ceiba tree, learned about medicinal plants, and spotted wildlife along the way. After returning to the lodge for a tasty lunch, we had some time to relax before continuing the adventure in the afternoon. We went for a refreshing swim in the river and enjoyed a beautiful sunset in the heart of the jungle.
