This 7 days tour is not your typical Inca Trail. By choosing the variant of Salkantay you will be immerse in a quiet and refreshing trek in the mountain; a great alternative to the traditional treks that most tourists do. Come experience the region of Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, Llactapata & a short Inca Trail.
We can pick up from any hotel around to the main square.
The group is picked up at different hotels to begin a 4 hours bus ride into the Sacred Valley. In Mollepata, where the tour starts, we will subdue horses for our expedition to the Mighty Salkantay (they will be carrying our camping equipments). Early in the morning we begin a 3 hours trek up to the highest point of the entire expedition, The Salkantay Pass (4.600 m). From there, we reach Wayracpunku for a delicious picnic. The journey will then continue into the high jungle and its beautiful nature. This trek is 5 hours until our campsite in Chaullay.
After breakfast we will be going to Lucmabamba and walk towards the ruins of Llaqtapata (an ancient watchpoint for the Machu Picchu and its surrounding mountains). Later we will have lunch at this amazing location and have access to lodging on the site (with hot water and accommodations). You will have the rest of the afternoon to enjoy the breathtaking view over the Machu Picchu and explore the ranch.
The next morning we go down to Ahobamba river where our bus awaits us. Those who reserved in advance and wants additional adrenaline can sign up for Ziplining or go into the famous hot springs of Cocalmayo (30$/each). The rest of the group will be meeting near Hidroelectrica. After relaxing in the hammocks, we continue along train tracks leading directly through the great jungle of Aguas Calientes. At night we join together in a local restaurant for diner and have a briefing about our next day.
Early in the morning (6:00am) the guide brings you to Chachabamba. Passing over a refreshing waterfall we get to the ruins of WinayWayna. After lunch we continue towards Inti Punku (Puerta del Sol) to enter a majestful scenery of the entire Machu Picchu village. We will be taken the bus back to Aguas Calientesfor the night
