    Continue the tour to the Residenzplatz. The architecture changes all of a sudden. The small streets and the shops are replaced with big spacious squares, a big Residence fountain in the centre of the square, the Old Residenz and the New Residenz buildings.     One of the most fun places in Salzburg is the Farmers Market at the University square. This big, baroque church forms an impressive backdrop for the food stands. Do not hesitate to try the local cheese, sausages, fruits and pretzels with some local beer or fresh water.

    Fortress Hohensalzburg

    At the end of the tour take the funicular to the top of the fortress Hohensalzburg and enjoy the view into Salzburg. From this over 900 year old fortress you can even view the Northern Limestone Alps and on a very clear day you can see the Eagles Nest in the far distance. Your guide will show you hidden areas of the fortress and explain to you the fascinating history of this fortress by walking through the 15th century state rooms all the way to the tall tower.
