    Cusco

    On the first day of your Rainbow Mountain adventure we will pick you up at your hotel at 4:00 am and drive 3 hours to the trailhead. While we pack our gear, our chef will prepare a hot breakfast to give you energy for the hike ahead. Our guides will go over the day's itinerary and safety tips to ensure you are fully prepared for the next two days.

    The hike begins in a large green valley. You will see hundreds of alpacas, local farmers and the beautiful Ausangate Mountain looming in the distance; This is just a preview of what's to come on your journey. As you continue moving along the trail, you will begin to conquer the first step of the hike: Puccacocha Pass. At about 16,000 feet, the pass sits just above Lake Puccacocha, and the massive Ausangate Mountain is directly in front of you, while a beautiful active glacier crashes into the lake below. After a successful climb, we will stop around noon to have lunch and recharge the body for the rest of the hike.

    Our destination for the night is Anata, where we will enjoy a beautiful evening surrounded by an amazing landscape in the stillness of the Andes. When the sun sets, we set up the dining tent with chairs for your group to relax and enjoy conversation while dinner is prepared. Tonight you can contemplate an unforgettable night sky full of constellations, shooting stars and wrap yourself up with tea. Distance: 14 km/8.7 miles Elevation: 4,200 m-5,000 m Hiking time: 5-6 hours

    Rainbow Mountain (vinincunca) - Cusco

    Today is what you were waiting for. Your chance to see the beautiful Rainbow Mountain; and the best part is that you're almost there. We will wake you up early with tea in your tent and serve you a hearty breakfast to give you energy for your final climb to Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain). Upon arrival, you can take as much time as you like to enjoy the incredible 360-degree views of the surrounding lands and explore the mountain itself. Take some time for yourself and really enjoy the beauty of nature around you; It really is a magical place. The descent hike will only take about three hours and here we will celebrate a successful trip and enjoy lunch before leaving back to Cusco. Distance: 18 km/11 miles Elevation: 5000 m-5200 m-4200 m Hiking time: 6-7 hours

    Arrival time back to Cusco will depend on how much time you want to spend on Rainbow Mountain, but we generally return around 5:00 p.m. m. to 6:00 p.m. m. and we will drop you off at your hotel.

  • HOW MANY DAYS DO I NEED TO ACCLIMATIZE IN CUSCO BEFORE THE EXCURSION? It is very important to be well acclimatized to the altitude before starting the walk. We recommend that you arrive in Cusco at least 2 or 3 days before the excursion. This way you will avoid problems related to altitude sickness.
