Very early in the morning, departure from Cusco to Mollepata village at around 9am where we will arrive and have breakfast. There are shops and toilet facilities.We return to the transportation for a 30-minute trip to Challacancha where we will prepare the equipment for the hike.We will then load horses with our equipment to begin the hike to Soraypampa at 12631 ft (3850 m) where we will arrive for lunch and get installed in the campsite Sorayapampa.At this point we will have enough time to take some pictures of the breathtaking views of the area the canyon stretching down the valley. In the afternoon, after lunch and for those who want to, we will have time to continue a short 1.20-hour hike up to see the beautiful Humantay Lagoon located at 4200 m, where you will see the beauty and charm of the area and it will be the best opportunity to take fantastic pictures. Dinner and night in our lodge Cabañas at Sorayapampa.
After breakfast, we will begin the most difficult part of the trek, walking through the site known as Pampa Salcantay. We will then take the left side of the glacier Humantay located beside the glacier Salcantay. Around noon, we will be at the highest point, Salcantay Humantay pass at 14763 ft (4600 m). We were see the Salcantay glaciers and after an hour of rest we will have lunch in the area called Huayracmachay.Then, we will continue hiking down for 4 hours to Selva Alta (also called the Cloud Forest) until arriving to the town of Chaullay located at 9514 ft (2900 m) around 4pm. Each one can decide if they want to continue hiking or going by car to our new Ecolodge Majestic located in the area called Loreta La Plata, where we will arrive around 5pm. Dinner in the lodge and night in a geodesic domes.
After breakfast, we will visit a coffee plantation located very close to our Ecolodge to learn about the cultivation, harvesting and processing of coffee, ending with a coffee tasting session. We will pass through a variety of plantations of crops such as coca, coffee, tea, banana, Etc. After the visit, we will return to the Ecolodge. After our lunch at the Ecolodge. We depart by vehicle to Hydroelectric Power Plant (1900 masl) for around 90 minutes. From there, we will start the hike that follows the train tracks and the Urubamba River. On the way we will visit the archaeological site Intihuatana which has an ancient sundial from the Inca period. We will have a view of Machu Picchu and Wayna Picchu mountains, passing through the Cloud Forest that has a great variety of plants and orchids. In the afternoon we will arrive in Aguas Calientes town where we will spend the night at a comfortable hotel. Dinner will be served at a tourist restaurant. Night at the hotel in Aguas Calientes.
After breakfast in your hotel, we board the tourist bus to Machu Picchu. Once inside, you will be taken on a 3-hour tour of Machu Picchu, journeying through its rich history, as you make your way through the Inca city with your personal tour guide. Aswell as visting the famous sites of the temple of the sun, the central plaza and the stepped terraces, you will have plenty opportunity to take the bucket list photos you came for atop the panoramic viewpoint of Machu Picchu. Before boarding the bus back down the mountain, your guide will also allow you time to explore Machu Picchu by your own, Once you have regrouped with your guide and taken the bus back to Aguas Calientes, there will be time to take lunch in one of Machu Picchu towns’ restaurants, before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. There you will be greeted by your guide and private transportation who will take you on the 2-hour drive back to your hotel in Cusco. Arrival time in Cusco is approximatley 6.30pm.
