Itinerary

    Day 1

    Cusco - km 82 - Ayapata

    We will pick you up from your hotel at 4:30 am. And you will be driven for 2 hours to the Km 82, from where officially you will start the inca trail to Machu Picchu. After having breakfast and showing your passports in the KM 82, You will hike for 4 hours to Hatunchaca where you will have lunch. Along the way your guide will spot interesting plants and Andean crops. You will also have a guided tour in the Patallacta inca site. After enjoying a delicious buffet lunch you will hike 3 hours to the base camp in Ayapata. Along this way you will see the last villages of the Inca Trail. Upon arrival the tents will be pitch. In the afternoon the tour guide will introduce the porters to you and you will have tea time and dinner.

    Ayapata - Dead woman’s Pass - Pacaymayu - Chaquicocha

    You will be woken up by your guide with a hot coffee cup. Once you get ready you will have breakfast and get ready for the second day on the inca trail. You will hike uphill for 4 hours towards the Dead Woman’s pass or Warmiwañuska. Once you celebrate the conquering you will hike down for 3 hours to have lunch. After having a full of protein lunch you will start hiking up for 2 hours to the Runcuracay pass. Along the way of both mountain passes you will see the beautiful Puna landscape of the Andes. Upon arrival to the summit of Runcuracay, you will hike down for 2 hours towards the inca place of Sayacmarca, from where you will se the cloud forest jungle. After visiting the Inca site you will hike 40 minutes to Chaquicocha where you will camp the second night. Upon arrival all the camping equipment will be pitch so then you will be able to have a well deserved rest.

    Chaquicocha - Phuyupatamarca - Wiñaywayna

    After a delicious breakfast, you will hike for 2 hours along a beautiful inca trail surrounded by orchids, ferns and moss. Then You will arrive to Phuyupatamarca, an impressive inca site from where you will see the Machu Picchu mountain and you will have a great view of the mountains. Then you will hike 3 hours downhill along the cloud forest towards to Intipata, from this point you will have a fantastic view of the sacred Vilcanota river, probably one of the best views of the whole trail. From here you will hike 45 minutes to Wiñaywayna to have lunch. You will also camp on this place. In the afternoon you will visit the marvelous site of Wiñaywayna, also known as Mini Machu Picchu. At night and after dinner time you will say thank you so much to your porters and you will rest to get ready for the next day that will be the visit to Machu Picchu.

    Wiñaywayna - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes - Cusco

    Machu Picchu

    After an early wake up, you will hike for 2 hours through a path surrounded by huge trees of the cloud forest. Once you arrive to the Sungate you will get your first glimpse of Machu Picchu in the distance. Then you will hike 30 minutes to the main viewpoint, from where you will have the postcard view of Machu Picchu. Then you will explore the citadel and your tour guide will teach you every interesting detail of Machu Picchu and its history for 3 hours. You will visit the sun temple, the temple of the three windows, the condor temple, the sundial and all the main sectors of the sacred citadel. After the guided tour, you will take a bus that will take you to Aguas Calientes for 30 minutes, where you will have lunch and will board the vistadome observatory train at 4:00 pm from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, from where a car will trasnport you back to Cusco, where you will arrive about 7:30 pm.
