We pick up all our passengers from their hotel in Cusco at the Sacred Valley and we provide private transportation until the starting point of the trek.
This incredible adventure begins with pick-up at 5:00 am from your hotel and driving to 82, We pack all our equipment and continue to begin our trek through the stunning Andean landscape, passing the ancient Inca ruins and breathtaking mountain scenery. As we trek further along the Inca Trail, we will immerse ourselves in the rich history and natural beauty of this iconic route. In the afternoon, we will continue hiking to Ayapata, the first night camping spot, where we will set up our tents and enjoy our delicious dinner and sleep under the starlit sky, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature.
We will have the opportunity to visit Wayna Q’ente and/or the Llactapata ancient archaeological site to further deepen our understanding of the Inca civilization and its impressive architectural achievements. This will be a truly unforgettable experience that combines adventure, history, and natural beauty in one incredible journey.
We will enjoy our breakfast and continue our trek to Corralpunku, which takes about 2 hours and involves a gentle uphill climb through woods and along a stream (3,300 m). Along the way, passing through diverse landscapes and experiencing the unique flora and fauna of the region. With luck, we will see tiny hummingbirds, falcons, and black-chested buzzard eagles, or perhaps we will see the king of the Andean heights, the condor, respected and venerated at Andean ceremonies. We will arrive at Llulluchapampa at 4 pm, approximately to our campsite located at 3,800 meters above sea level with a spectacular view of the surrounding snow-capped peaks.
Ayapata archeological site we will visit is a fascinating site that offers insight into the rich history of the region. The combination of natural beauty and cultural significance makes this hike a truly unique and rewarding adventure.
Today is our longest hiking day, crossing two high mountain passes and experiencing breathtaking views along the way. We will steadily ascend to Warmiwañusqa, the most challenging and extended Inca Trail climb at 4,200 m (13,692 ft). From there, we will continue on to the second pass at Runkurakay before descending to our campsite of Phuyupatamarca with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Today is the most exciting day of your trip to Machu Picchu, as you will have the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the history and beauty of this ancient Incan citadel and will descend towards Wiñayhuayna, the archaeological site, at 2800 msl. We continue hiking until we reach the Sun Gate, where we will have our first panoramic view of Machu Picchu and then descend into the ancient city itself. After exploring Machu Picchu, we will have some free time to wander around before heading back to Ollantaytambo and then Cusco.
We will explore this incredible UNESCO World Heritage Site. As we walk through the ruins, we will learn about the fascinating history and culture of the Inca civilization that once thrived here. Our knowledgeable guide will provide insights and stories that will bring this ancient city to life before we make our way back to Cusco, ending our unforgettable journey through the Andes Mountains.
