We chose this square that is very close to the Plaza de Armas of Cusco because it is located very close to the surrounding hotels and close to each other.
Three hours before your train departs from the Ollantaytambo station, we'll collect you from your hotel in Cusco. From there, we'll journey through the picturesque Sacred Valley of the Incas, with Ollantaytambo awaiting us after a two-hour scenic drive.
Upon reaching Ollantaytambo, our attentive tour manager will guide you onto the train destined for Aguas Calientes. As you traverse the route, feast your eyes on captivating vistas, from towering snow-clad peaks and shimmering glaciers to ancient Incan terraces painted in vibrant shades of green. Along this journey, you'll also catch sight of iconic Incan landmarks, including the start point of the famed Inca Trail at Km 84.
As the train gently pulls into Aguas Calientes station, one of our representatives will be there to greet you, ensuring a smooth transition to your hotel. The evening in Aguas Calientes, the portal to Machu Picchu, is yours to explore. Perhaps meander through its bustling marketplace or unwind at the thermal springs, which gave this charming town its name.
An early start awaits you, but not without a snack box, courteously provided by the hotel. Soon after, you'll board the tourist bus destined for the ancient citadel. The scenic ride from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu is a brief 25-minute journey, with the day's first bus embarking at 05:30 am.
Upon arrival, our local guide will greet you at the main entrance, assisting with the security checkpoint. From there, you'll embark on a comprehensive two-hour tour of Machu Picchu, allowing ample time to delve deep into the mysteries of the Incan city. For those seeking additional adventure, consider ascending Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain. Just remember, these climbs require prior booking and come with an additional cost of USD 20 each. Alternatively, a hike to the Sun Gate is freely available. This hour-long ascent rewards you with a view truly worthy of a postcard.
Once you've soaked in all the citadel has to offer, a bus will transport you back to Aguas Calientes. Here, a late-evening train awaits, leading you to Ollantaytambo.
Upon arrival, our representative will ensure a seamless transfer back to the vibrant city of Cusco.
