You will wander through the remains of temples, residences, and altars. You will see the Intihuatana, a notable ritual stone associated with astronomy, believed to have been used by the Incas as a clock or calendar. The views from here, overlooking the Sacred Valley and the Urubamba River, are truly breathtaking. This visit to the Pisac Archaeological Site is not just a historical tour; it's an opportunity to connect deeply with the legacy of the Inca civilization and the continuing vibrancy of Andean culture.
After exploring the historical wonders of the Pisac Archaeological Site on the Sacred Valley Machu Picchu Tour, your next stop will be the vibrant Pisac Market. This bustling market is a sensory delight, brimming with colorful textiles, handcrafted jewelry, traditional ceramics, and an array of local handicrafts that reflect the rich cultural tapestry of the Andes. As you wander through the market, you'll have the opportunity to interact with local artisans and vendors, offering a deeper insight into their crafts and the cultural significance behind them. The market is an excellent place for purchasing unique souvenirs and gifts, each with its own story and Andean charm. Besides the array of crafts and textiles, the Pisac Market also offers a selection of local foods and spices, allowing you to taste and experience the flavors of the region. From fresh fruits and vegetables to traditional snacks and herbal teas, there's plenty to tempt your taste buds.
After exploring the Pisac, the journey continues to Urubamba, a charming town nestled in the heart of the Sacred Valley. The site offers remarkable views of the Sacred Valley and the surrounding mountains, providing an insight into the strategic importance of this location in Inca times. In addition to the ruins, you'll have the opportunity to walk through the old town. This part of the town has been continuously inhabited since the Inca era, evident from its narrow cobblestone streets and water channels that date back to the 15th century. The town's layout is a classic example of Incan urban planning, which is still preserved to this day.
After exploring Ollantaytambo, we'll head to the train station in the town to board the train to Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Town. This train journey offers scenic views of the Andes and is an essential part of the experience, setting the stage for the visit to the iconic Machu Picchu the following day.
