We will leave the Imperial City of Cusco for the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where we take the first breakfast before continuing the path to the Malaga Pass, at 4350 meters (14160 feet), starting point for our exciting bike tour. After an informative talk from our guide, we received all the necessary equipment to perform this activity.
Then we start a 3 hour cycle descent (55 km) until we reach the town of Huamanmarca. During the tour we experience the beauty of the snowy and tropical forest, where the Peruvian Amazon begins, crossing small streams and enjoying the change from cold to tropical climate. Several technical stops are made to check bicycles and equipment. Finally, we arrived in the town of Santa Maria (1,200 meters above sea level) to enjoy a well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon we have the option of rafting on the Vilcanota River (US$ 40 per person). This river offers us category III and III+ rapids. For this activity we have helmets, windbreakers and life jacket category V. Then head on our private bus to the town of Santa Teresa where we can cool off and enjoy the thermal baths, staying overnight in a family hostel.
We will start our day with breakfast, and then zip line activity with one of the most trusted operators in the area($40). This activity is optional and lasts approximately two hours. Then we'll have a shuttle to the hydroelectric power station, where the government control is located, to enter Machu Picchu National Park (Machu Picchu Historical Shrine).
At this point we will start our trekking towards the town of Aguas Calientes, passing through the sector called Intihuatana, a small archaeological site where the guide will give us an explanation. Then we will continue to San Gabriel, where we will enjoy our lunch prepared by another family (Gonza Family). From this area we will have the opportunity to contemplate the majestic Machu Picchu Mountains, Huayna Picchu and other constructions on top of the mountain. We will finish the hike in the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the third night and have our last dinner.
Day 3: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco Before sunrise, we will start the climb towards Machu Picchu, either by bus or by walking, to enjoy the sunrise over the citadel. You will have an approximately 2-hour guided tour of the most important points of Machu Picchu, where the guide will explain the history, architecture and mystery of this wonder of the world. After the tour, you will have free time to explore or, if you booked in advance, climb the Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. Afterwards, we return to Aguas Calientes to take the train to Ollantaytambo, where a private transport will take us back to Cusco. Arrival in Cusco is scheduled for the evening.
