Day 1 of the Short Inca Trail begins with a pick up at your hotel in Cusco at 4am, then is 1h and half driving to Ollantaytambo train station where we will take Train to Km 104 where we begins the hike, crossing the Urubamba River towards Chachabamba ruins, offering a glimpse into Inca history. The trail ascends through lush cloud forests, rich in flora and fauna, leading to the stunning Wiñay Wayna ruins, showcasing Inca architectural prowess with terraces and temples. The journey peaks at the Sun Gate, revealing the first mesmerizing view of Machu Picchu. This rewarding day combines moderate hiking with historical exploration, ending as hikers prepare for Machu Picchu's exploration on Day 2. The experience blends adventure, nature, and ancient culture, making for an unforgettable trek towards one of the world's wonders.
Today marks the pinnacle of our journey, and it begins with an early breakfast. Then you'll catch one of the early buses that ascend to Machu Picchu. Upon arriving at Machu Picchu, your guide will lead you into the citadel, where you'll have the privilege of witnessing the sunrise (season-dependent). then our walking tour begins. Led by your expert guide, you'll explore the most significant sectors and palaces within the Machu Picchu complex. This guided tour typically lasts around 2.5 hours, providing you with invaluable insights into the history and architecture of this ancient site. If you've secured a Huayna Picchu ticket, you'll have the option to embark on the renowned Huayna Picchu hike. For those without a Huayna Picchu ticket, will say good bye and take bus down to Aguas Calientes where you will have some time have lunch then be ready to board the train that takes you to Ollantaytambo where our driver will pick you up and driver you to Cusco your hotel.
