Explore the city of Huaraz (10,170 ft) and its surroundings, starting with panoramic views from the El Pinar viewpoint. Visit the Willcahuaín archaeological complex (Wari-Tiawanaco period), including the main mausoleum and nearby Ichic Willcahuaín, with smaller tombs used by the elite. Return to Huaraz through scenic countryside, enjoying views of the Cordillera Blanca. In the city, stroll through the Plaza de Armas and visit the Regional Museum of Ancash, home to Peru’s largest collection of stone sculptures, especially from the Recuay culture. The tour ends with a transfer back to your hotel.

Wilcahuain is a temple of Huari-Tiahuanaco influence (pre-Hispanic culture). This stone temple is constructed of overlapping platforms and divided into three floors. The building was built for funerary purposes. This mausoleum meant a change for funeral customs since previous cultures did it underground.
The Archaeological Museum of Ancash was founded in 1935. It has four exhibition rooms and houses an essential compilation of archaeological pieces, especially from cultures from the North area of Peru such as Recuay, Moche and Chavín.
The Church of Solitude in Huaraz, Peru, is an iconic religious sanctuary that combines history, architecture, and popular fervor. Known as the Sanctuary of the Lord of Solitude, it houses the venerated image of the Lord of Solitude, the spiritual patron saint of the city.
