This new and mysterious attraction, the Waqrapukara Tour, is undoubtedly a tourist destination that promises a lot. Its name comes from two Quechua words, “Waqra” which means horn and “Pukara”, which means fortress.
A tour that connects you with an experience full of stories and history of the Inca Empire. The archaeological monument and Cultural Heritage of the Nation surrounded by impressive plazas, platforms and the stone forest. A whole day discovering the magic and spirituality of the Waqrapukara fortress, baptized as the Machu Picchu of the pre-Incas.
The transfer will pick up passengers in the lobby of their hotel, wearing a black jacket and a cap with our company logo, and will also contact the passenger before being picked up.
Pick up will be in the center of the main square, where the water fountain and the Inca statue are located. The transfer will contact the passengers before their pick up.
04:00 – 05:30: Pick up from your accommodation – Transport to Cusipata – Breakfast The adventure begins when our transfer picks you up at your accommodation at 04:00 am en route to the small town of Cusipata, located south of Cusco, where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast. Here you have the opportunity to shop for drinks, snacks, sunscreen, and even souvenirs.
06:00 – 08:00: Cusipata – Sangarara – Start of the Hike After breakfast, the trip continues. During the tour we will make a brief stop to observe one of the largest bodies of water in the city of Cusco, the Pomacanchi Lagoon. Finally, upon reaching the town of Sangarara, you take the detour that leads to the start of the hike towards Waqrapukara.
08:00 – 11:00: Hike – Explore Waqrapukara At the starting point you will receive instructions from our professional guide to begin the hike to Waqrapukara. This is a tour that lasts approximately 2 hours. At this place you will learn about the history and mythology of the place; you will have enough time to explore the area, take photos and rest amidst the impressive views of the Waqrapukara Archaeological Park, as well as see the spectacular chasms and canyons that surround it.
13:00 – 18:00: Lunch and return to our vehicle – Cusco After experiencing the Waqrapukara, we meet at a key point to enjoy a delicious lunch (box) in an unforgettable and special picnic. Back to the transport, a walk of about 3 hours in which you can enjoy contact with nature, the impressive mountains and the greenery of the landscape.
