Fourni is a village known for its traditional Cretan charm, featuring narrow, winding streets, stone houses, and a peaceful, laid-back atmosphere. Nestled among lush olive groves and picturesque landscapes.
Driving along forgotten paths, we will descend from the heights of Plaka, overlooking the stunning Bay of Elounda. You will have time to stroll through the charming village of Plaka and hop on a boat to explore Spinalonga.
A short 5-minute ferry ride from Plaka brings you to this small island. Spinalonga is also known as Leper Island, where it was where patients from Crete and the rest of Greece were quarantined until 1957. The ruins of the market street with the shops, the hospital and many small houses in which lepers lived isolated, can be explored individually. Boat and island tickets included.
Leaving Spinalonga Island we have free time to explore the unique Elounda village or go swimming in the crystal clear waters of Elounda Bay. A drive through Elounda Square offers a charming glimpse into the heart of this picturesque coastal town.
Agios Nikolaos is built on the side of the Gulf of Mirabello. Known for its beautiful Lake Voulismeni (probably created by an earthquake), picturesque harbor, and colorful streets, Agios Nikolaos is perfect for a leisurely stroll. After sightseeing, you could enjoy a meal at a traditional taverna by the lake, where you can savor fresh seafood and Cretan specialties.
