First we will pick you up either at 7.00, 8.00 or 9.00 AM in the morning based on your preference and location. Then it will take around 3 hours to reach Comilla for our excursion.
The first stop is the famous Shalban Bihar, an ancient Buddhist monastery built in the 8th century by King Bhavadeva. Once a vibrant religious and cultural center, the ruins now reveal an impressive glimpse into Bengal’s Buddhist past.
Just beside Shalban Bihar, the Mainamati Museum showcases artifacts uncovered from various nearby archaeological sites, including coins, sculptures, inscriptions, and terracotta plaques. A modern Buddhist temple also stands nearby. Followed to this we will take our lunch
Continue to Rupban Mura, an archaeological site set on a hillock. Initially a stupa, it later evolved into a cruciform shrine around the 8th century.
Itakhola Mura – Visit the exposed ruins of a Buddhist temple with evidence of multiple rebuilding phases between the 7th–12th centuries. Excavations here revealed coins, copper plates, and a large stucco image still preserved in situ.
Explore the legendary Palace Mound, traditionally linked to Queen Mainamati, mother of King Govinda Chandra, and thought to be the last seat of the Chandra dynasty.
After our excursion we will head back to the capital city, Dhaka and it will again take 3 hours or more depending on the traffic condition.
