Depart early from Cusco by private transport. Visit pre-Inca tombs of the Lupaca culture and the colonial town of Paucartambo with its local museum. Continue to the cloud forest, home to species like the Spectacled Bear and the Cock of the Rock, Peru’s national bird. Arrive at Pilcopata Inn to spend the night.
After breakfast, visit a coca plantation and a wildlife rescue center. Travel by boat from Port Atalaya, observing birds like herons and cormorants along the river. Arrive at Amazon Manu Lodge, have lunch, then explore Machuwasi Lake on balsa rafts to spot hoatzins, monkeys, capybaras, and possibly caimans. Overnight at the lodge.
Early morning visit to the macaw clay lick, where parrots and macaws gather to feed on mineral-rich clay. After breakfast, return by boat to Port Atalaya and continue by bus back to Cusco, arriving around 6:30 pm.
