The first day of our 4-day Inca Trail tour is relatively easy, providing an easy introduction to hiking. The hike starts early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM, and the drive to Piscacucho, the starting point of the hike, takes about two hours. From there you cross the Urubamba River and enter the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Once you have passed the checkpoint, the trail leads through beautiful Andean scenery with snow-capped peaks and lush vegetation. You’ll also pass a few small Inca ruins, including Llactapata, which serves as a good warm-up for the ruins you’ll encounter later in the hike. The trail continues through the valley until you reach Wayllabamba where you can spend the night. This is a great time to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings before continuing your hike the next day.
The second day of the Inca Trail is the most difficult, as it requires a steep climb to the Valley of the Dead Women at 4,215 meters above sea level. The trail is quite steep and may be a bit challenging for some, but the view at the top is absolutely stunning. Once you reach the pass, you begin your descent to Pacaymayo, passing through beautiful landscapes and cloud forests. This part of the trail is particularly interesting as it passes several Inca ruins, You arrive in Pacaymayo early in the evening, where you camp for the night. This is a good time to rest and recover before continuing the hike the next day. Today is considered the most difficult day of the hike, as you will climb the highest point of the trail, Warmiwañusca Pass, at 13,780 feet above sea level. Along the way, rest and enjoy stunning views of the Andes mountains and valleys. Descend into the Pacaymayo Valley and camp for the night.
Day three of the Inca Trail was a bit easier than day two, mostly hiking down to Wiñay Wayna. This part of the route is particularly interesting as it passes several Inca ruins, including Runkurakay, Sayacmarca. Phuyupatamarca, known as the «City in the Clouds». You will also pass some beautiful waterfalls and streams, providing plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy the scenery. In the evening you will arrive in Wiñay Wayna, where you will camp for the night. Today’s hike includes steep climbs and descents, and passes several Inca ruins along the way, including Runkuracay and Sayacmarca. Reach the second highest point on the trail at 12,630 feet, then descend into the cloud forest to the final campsite at Wiñay Wayna.
The last day of the Inca Trail is the most exciting as you finally reach Machu Picchu. You start the day early with a short hike to the Sun Gate, which offers fantastic views of Machu Picchu. From there, you head to the ruins themselves and take a guided tour. With its stunning architecture and breathtaking views, Machu Picchu is a true wonder. After the tour, you will have free time to explore the ruins on your own before taking the train back to Cusco. Wake up early and reach Inti Punku (Sun Gate) in time to catch the sunrise over Machu Picchu. Enter the citadel and take a tour of the ancient Inca city. After take the bus down to the city of Aguas Calientes to get some optional lunch and then take the train and bus back to cusco hotel, arriving to your hotel approx. 7 p.m
