Meet your Hosts

We are Gisela and Tony, founders of Sumaq Ñawi, a Cusco-based project that shares Peru through its food, traditions, and local culture. We believe that cooking and sharing a meal is one of the best ways to connect with people and understand a place.

Gisela is passionate about conscious cooking and local ingredients, while Tony (Pawkarmayta) is a Cusco artist deeply connected to Andean traditions. Together, we invite you to discover Peru through its flavors, stories, and hospitality.

We’ll begin with a visit to the vibrant Urubamba Market, where you’ll discover local ingredients, meet the vendors, and enjoy a refreshing seasonal fruit juice while selecting the freshest produce for your cooking class.

Next, we’ll head to **Casa Tiobamba in Maras**, where you’ll cook over a traditional wood-fired stove with spectacular views of the Chicón glacier and the surrounding mountains.

Choose one or two classic Peruvian dishes to prepare:

* Ceviche
* Ají de Gallina
* Lomo Saltado
* Causa Limeña

Before the main meal, you'll also taste delicious **Amazonian-style criollo tamales** as an appetizer.

After cooking together and learning about local traditions, you'll enjoy your meal surrounded by the beauty of the Sacred Valley. You'll also receive the recipes to take home as a lasting memory of your experience.
